The opening of TSOR on Permanent Waves, all these years later when you understand where the band was in their development. Yes, every note of ATWAS, of course. The pure, raw, youthful energy that comes through in the recording. Freewill (studio): Each of us, a CELL of awareness. (sung with a hint of that Geddy Lee wail from the past) Freewill (live on Time Macine Tour): Geddy still going for it and nailing the note on the same line.

On this current CA tour, the big opening keyboard notes on The Big Money got me. The Clockwork Angels intro. Actually, the entire song can bring about chills at any time. "Clockwork Angels bathed in liiiiight." Witch Hunt - entire song Vital Signs - "Everybody got to deviate from the norm......." In the End - studio and All the World's a Stage versions

The songs sound great IMO.

There was a fun moment with Alex during the show. I forget which song it was. But Neil had thrown a drumstick in the air and missed the catch. It bounced off one of the cymbals (you could hear it) and landed at center stage. A few moments later, Alex, while jamming, picked up the stick and started playing the guitar with the drumstick. (nod to Jimmy Page or the string ensemble?) He used the stick for few seconds and then tossed it in to the crowd. They were clearly having a lot of fun. Geddy was hopping all over the stage. Neil had a few smiles during the show. The string section was laughing and having fun all night. Great atmosphere.....

GREAT show tonight!! Highlights: The Analog Kid, Carnies, Headlong Flight, 2112. Also, Geddy's voice was dead on and Neil's drums sounded great! The snare just had that tone. They never disappoint.

On the extended "agaaaaaaaiiiiiiiin" in Headlong Flight, it did sound like the studio track was backing Geddy. You can also hear that he is still singing it live. So, I would not say it was "lip-synched." Not a big deal IMHO.

During the outro of Xanadu on ESL, you can hear and see Geddy playing the 6 string. There are a couple of shots where he's going back and forth between the 6 string guitar parts and the keyboards. You can see him using the right hand to play the keys, while holding the left hand on the neck of the 6 string.

My brother and I were at the cancelled show on July 7. I remember us standing there in the torrential downpour with no shelter just looking at each other going W - T - F ?!?! At one point I yelled out (sang) "Atmospheric disturbance" in my best Geddy voice. It helped lighten the mood for a bit. The makeup date was an excellent show!! And Geddy did acknowledge the patience and understanding of the fans more than once that night.

I like BU2B2. But, I do agree with some other posts that it probably would have worked better after The Wreckers. To me, it does not need to be listed as a "track" on the album. It seems like maybe they wanted it to count as a track so there would be 12 songs on the album. (like on a clock) And, Geddy has said they wanted stand alone songs anyway. That said, a suite containing The Wreckers / BU2B2 / Headlong Flight might have worked...quite well, actually. Wreckers fades out right in to the strings on BU2B2 uninterrupted. Then, again with no interruption, BU2B2 ends with an extended low bass note which mixes in to that atmospheric opening of HF right in to Geddy's opening bass riff.

Lot's of great drumming moments on the album. But, when I heard the two "count ins" on Clockwork Angels, I loved it! A little bit of that rawness goes a long way on modern day recording.

Excellent song! Great lyrics. The thing I really love about this one is how it leaves you wanting more.

Playing CA complete would be tough on Geddy's voice, yes. I would love to hear as much of it live as possible though. Isn't it great that the last tour featured the complete MP, a 30 year old album......and on this tour we're talking about the possibility of playing their latest album in its entirety because it is THAT good!!

I liked Caravan as a stand alone song from day one. Always thought BU2B was solid, but not awesome. I liked HF from the beginning too. But, it seemed like it needed the rest of the story surrounding it to really get in to it. Now, I love all three!! I really enjoy the way they fit in the storyline. BU2B has come the furthest in terms of my appreciation. It is an excellent song!

Geddy is sounding pretty good for a rock singer of his age. When I listened to HF the first time, and heard that long note....(I wish that I could live it all agaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiinnn!!) it took me right back to the last note of "Working Man" on the TM tour. (Well they call me the Working Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaannn!) I could not help but think about what the band's original plan was for the recording of the new album. They wanted to get in "touring shape" and then go in to the studio and record the album. Well, there was a break in there after the tour. But, it sounds like it still worked out like they had originally wanted to some degree. They wanted to stretch out with their instruments, Geddy's voice included.

Yeah. He does it all the time. I think you hit the nail on the head though. I think he's keeping time in his head and sometimes it shows physically with the head twitch. Phil Collins does something similar. (or, did do something similar back when he was still playing) Phil's thing was more like a head "bob" or drop. When he was deep in a complex groove, he would turn his head and "drop" it down a little bit on certain beats. I wonder if Neil even realizes he's doing it.
