  1. My recording of Xanadu: Great video quality and sound for something taken on a cell phone using digital zoom.
  2. Inevitably Rush will one day retire, the boys are getting up their in age and have put in more than their fair share of time. Yes, it will be a sad day however the music will always be there to keep the memories alive. Considering these guys put out some of their best music in the 70s and 80s and yet in 2014 they still can sell out shows all over the world that in it self is a testament to their greatness. I really wish I was alive back in the day to see Rush in their absolute prime.
  3. Watching the video and seeing the school in person really reminded me of my high school years. I wasn't really a nerdy outcast per-se but I never was a social butterfly riding around in cars with friends all the time either. Even though high school was 7 years ago it seems like an eternity. I took a walk through my old school a few months ago (I go visit every year as it's only 5 minutes away) this song kept repeating in my head. Not much has changed on the inside/outside except for a different demographic of students. Back in high school I remember really being into Pink Floyd during grade 9/10 and around grade 11-12 I started getting into Rush.
  4. I don't want to face the killer instinct Face it in New Orleans -Lock & Key
  5. As a huge fan of the song Subdivisions I decided to finally go check out the iconic area where the high school exterior/interior shots were filmed. It is common knowledge that the high school scenes were shot at L'Amoreaux Collegiate Institute in Scarborough. The school is about 20 minutes from me and I was on my way to Scarborough for something so I figured I'd take a drive by. As it was a weekend, I could not get into the inside of the school (I suspose I could have tried as the pool facility is open on weekends however I didn't really have time to sneak around). Upon arrival, I immediately recongized the outside of the building from the video. The building is completely original and many of the doors/signs (Cafeteria loading, fire exit) look like they are original from the 70s/80s. The music video shows a very different student demographic compared to what the area is now like. The intersection where the high school is located (Warden and Finch) is dominantly Chinese-Canadian area, a big change from 1982 where you'd see people by the name of "Dave Glover". Still, I found it extremely cool to see the exterior is identical to that shown in the video. Have a look at some pics I took and then watch the video here http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/jagflyer/20140118_124954.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/jagflyer/20140118_125010.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/jagflyer/20140118_124945.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/jagflyer/20140118_124938.jpg
  6. I'd have to say Subdivisions. That has to be my #1 song of any band. My top 4 songs in iTunes are all different versions of Subdivisions. Vital Signs and Limelight are pretty good too.
  7. Religious or not, I still think that the holiday should have been taken into consideration. I'm not religious but still make the effort to observe the holiday, including the two festive meals with family/friends. It's not a "high holiday" like Yom Kippur but it is still one of several important Jewish festival days that fall during the year. For Geddy to push the show a few days later/earlier would not have been such a huge deal IMO. I wonder how his family feels about this, being that I'm assuming they gather and celebrate the holiday. However, it is not uncommon to only hold a dinner on the first night (Monday the 18th). Google "Passover Holiday" if you don't know what the festival I am talking about is.
  8. I just realized that the Hamilton, ON show falls on the 2nd night of Passover. It is astonishing that Geddy would be playing on a night where Jewish family's gather for a traditional Passover meal (the 2nd of the two). What is more alarming is that his family has a long Jewish history and as we all know his mother is a Holocaust survivor. I have been told not all families do the dinner both nights (18th and 19th this year) but I am still very disappointed with RUSH's scheduling of the event. I know many Jewish fans (my concert partner being one) who I am sure are very pissed about this. RUSH has lost a lot of my respect over this and that's really sad...
  9. Wave after wave will flow with the tide, And bury the world as it does. Tide after tide will flow and recede Leaving life to go on as it was... Wave after wave, we flow with the tide And bury the world as it does Tied and retied, we flow at great speed leaving life to go on as it was.
  10. Have you ever misheard or thought a word was something it actually isn't? After 5 years of being a Rush fan (and having it as my favorite song) I learned that in Subdivisions "The timeless soul attraction" is actually, "the timeless OLD attraction". Additionally, I also never knew "the suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of YOUTH". I always thought it was "YOU". Can you guys come up with any?
  11. $21 in ticketmaster fees? $80 for a 400 level ticket is $$ I'll be there but I haven't yet gotten over the price point. I'm a student and I'm not working so it just seems expensive at first glance.
  12. Two different Toronto dates in 2 different venues? Wow, I wonder which one I am going to go to?
  13. I listened to RUSH while stoned yesterday... it was great, as it is when Im not stoned.
  14. I voted for a Farewell to Kings
  15. I've partaken before and frankly I don't find it that spectacular. I'd do it if given the right oppertunity. Its just that I don't want people to find out I did it or see me on it.
  16. I saw the Borat movie and I made sexytime explosion! I've been a Borat fan for 2 months and saw it the week it came out.
  17. I know I'm a RUSH fan if: (these are all true of me) 1. Walk into a music store, see a 2007 Rush official calender and buy it without even looking at the price. This applies to all RUSH stuff. 2. You have 1700 songs on your iPod and often you listen to nothing else but Rush. 3. You get shivers when your subway train stops at "ROSEDALE" and immediately look around for signs of Geddy. 4. You scroll through your iPod song list and find 2-3 copies of the same, from 2-3 different concerts. 5. You turn up any radio that has RUSH playing and don't care if the teacher or other students yell at you. 6. You sing along to the instrumental parts
  18. I watched the Show of Hands DVD from the Replay X3 box set. At the end of Territories there is a message on teh screen about due to the sensitive nature, this part has been removed. Meanwhile we see Alex singing. The exact message is: "Producers Apology" The vocal portion of this segment has been deleted due to the sensitive and inexplicable nature of the subject matter and for the protection and safety of our viewing audience. Thank you! What are they hiding?
