I really doubt they are going to break out anything unusual. Neil said back in the April 1984 Modern Drummer Magazine that those old songs have no meaning for them anymore and they can't play them without conviction and said in so many words, "we would be lying to you if we played these songs. Do you want us to lie to you?" Talking down to his fans as if they were morons! This was around when it all started...

I am guessing it will be a setlist of songs they have done in the last 3 tours and nothing surprising, 1 or 2 new ones and all of Moving Pictures.

How was he talking down to his fans? confused13.gif I don't understand all this Neil Peart bashing. Is it because he sucks? tongue.gif

I agree they won't break out anything "unusual", but I am hoping they will break out songs they haven't played in a very long time.

I'd like to vote in SOMETHING FOR NOTHING!

I know that common argument will come out about how "Geddy can't sing those type of songs anymore", but I don't care. I don't buy it. That song is rockin'...completely kicks my ass everytime! I always thought that would be a cool opening song for the second set.

BTW...does anyone know when the heck was the last time they played it live??

Other tracks to keep retired, PLEASE:

Time Stand Still
The Analog Kid
Marathon
Manhattan Project
Middletown Dreams
Kid Gloves

I could go on, but these are the main songs that get under my skin as of now.

My blood is now boiling.. you mentioned two of my favourite songs of all-time. I would do anything to hear "You move me, you move me".

Excellent choice! That song would sound killer nowadays.

Well, he implied that it was kind of dumb for fans to be wanting them to play songs they had not played in years at the time. And also asking if the fans that wanted to hear such songs wanted the band to lie to them. Of course they don't! Why even ask such a stupid question?

If they're digging through the vault already...

If they played Emotion Detector just once live, I would be able to die happy! (Provided I'm there at the time of course!)

Wonder why it's never been played live - my favourite song of all-time.

Sorry if there's a thread on why; I'm fairly new here.

That and Prime Mover. One of the deepest songs I've ever heard.

Yeah...ED would be unbelivable live. It certainly is more than just underrated.

I always thought it would work really well as a second set song...you know, especially when the sun is almost down (provided you're in an outdoor venue of course). The intro starting up at that point would be incredible IMO.

Just a fantastic tune...and not a bad TRF'er either! wink.gif

Would love to hear the following:

Jacob's Ladder

Different Strings

Time Stand Still

Far Cry

We Hold On

The Pass

Driven

Test for Echo

La Villa Strangiato

if they play all of Moving Pictures, I hope they break it up during the show to maintain the surprise factor for those who don't want to know the set list prior to show.

If they play Moving Pictures front to back, start the show with it. Then play all the new tunes you want to include. Leave the second set for past albums, maybe in reverse order of release.

Please drop from this tour set list:

Anything from Vapour Trails

Dreamline, Mission, Animate, The Spirit of Radio, Roll the Bones.

I'm going to both shows in Toronto. Let the fray begin..

I'll play too, but I'm going to be REALISTIC. I'd like to hear:

2112 (PW tour version, opening up the show)

By-Tor into a FULL Xanadu

In the End

The Weapon

The Analog Kid

Kid Gloves

Afterimage

Jacob's Ladder

Lakeside Park

In regards to what they consider/choose to be the "time machine" part of the show, I DONT want to hear anything past Grace.

I think the only way you hear Lakeside Park live is to put on ATWAS wink.gif

Ha touche! I know its a long shot, but the reason I listed it is I think "possibly" Geddy can still sing it. Unlike same-era songs like Anthem...The others I think are real possibilities, some likely...
