His vocals were very strong in G'boro. That show was like "The ever-amazing Geddy Lee and two old dudes who can't remember The Camera Eye". I love them but I am kinda bummed if it turns out to be my last show.

In Greensboro he said (and I quote)- Maybe we'll see you again sometime, you never know,,,goodnight!"

Overall a great show. Geddy is clearly the master of his domain.I was a little surprised that Al and Neil seemed to be working really hard where Geddy was just cruising. Jacob's Ladder was tremendous.

We are almost in full agreement, but then you insinuate those hoping for a little more of a future is somehow disrespectful in your eyes. Its your right to support retirement. Its not your right to insinuate that other fans are disrespectful for hoping for a small/limited future from the band. Something two members of the band have publicly expressed interest in. By your logic, Ged and Al are both being disrespectful to themselves. . What I mean to say is that I will respect whatever decision is made. I am hopeful that they won't hang it up completely.Right now it is being projected as being up in the air but I am not so sure. They stated many times in the past that they will never announce a final tour as actually being a final tour. They have been nebulous about it all along which gives them the freedom to NOT decide or declare anything. That also ends up being frustrating for all of us. If they choose not to decide, they still have made a choice. My gut says that Neil will be the decider. Alex would probably yield to Geddy but Neil is the new guy. He holds all the cards and has since he decided to come back.

I have left the last 15 shows I went to thinking it could be the last one I see. Everything since Neil's hiatus is gravy. I get to go see Rush one more time next week. If I get the opportunity again, great. If not, it's been a great 35 years. I am cool with whatever they decide-I think they deserve that respect in return for their efforts.

They probably have not listened to a lot of the songs they are playing for years until rehearsals. Some geeky fans (me included) probably know what they played at least as well as the band remembers. I am pretty shocked to see two drum kits-that has got to be a heck of an adjustment.

The White on is a 4080/6. Bass on top and 6 strings on the bottom. That picture is from a soundcheck. I have seen 50+ shows since 1980 (multiples every tour) and only seen that particular instrument onstage ONCE, at my very first show 5/10/1980 at the Palladium in NYC. The Jetglo (black) and the newly acquired Fireglo (sunburst) are BOTH 4080/12s. It says so specifically in the R40 Tourbook. The black one is the workhorse. It's the one from all of the old performance videos and the one used live on Bangkok and Xanadu on ESL. Look at the headstocks. The white one has a flat face and the hook at the top edge while the other two are shaped differently and channeled out to accommodate the 6 extra tuning machines. No room for debate on this point.

Who says there are A, B, and C setlists? We won;t know unless the next three shows mirror the last three song for song. I say they are still figuring out the set and checking crowd reaction and their own stamina.

Starting to think they might mix it up every night to f**k with us. Either that or they are trying to find one setlist to run with based on crowd reaction.

Don't really know how I will feel about it. It could blow me away. It could suck hard. It probably will fall somewhere between those two extremes. I was in line to buy Moving Pictures on release day. I have bought every other studio release on release day. I was at 6/28/2002 in Hartford, the show that almost never was. I've been to almost 50 others. I shook Geddy's hand at the MFH album signing in Edison, NJ in the fall of 2000 thinking that Rush was DONE. Turns out they are not done. I was 15 when MP came out. I'll be 47 when CA comes out. I'll be standing at Best Buy trying to find the damned thing on release day when they probably won't even have unpacked it because 99.999999% of humans don't give a shit. I give a shit. We are getting new Rush. Be happy about it. Consider the alternative.

Another NC Road-tripper here. Drove up from Raleigh, getting to our hotel a little before three. Mussels and Stellas at Bonefish Grill (a guy's gotta eat). Our parking situation worked out ok-we were right opposite the VIP lot and were able to sneak out pretty quickly. OK-the show. It was Al's night. He was just ON on everything, and he knew it too. Ged's voice was much better than earlier reviews would have led me to believe-nailed Free Will and Marathon. Neil appeared to struggle a bit in the first set-got a little lost in LTTA and Marathon started off REALLY fast, but by the end of the first set he was where he needed to be. Still wearing headphones-ears must not be back to normal yet. New solo is really interesting-glad to see so many changes to it. Other than Stick It Out, the first set was great. Happy with Presto, Marathon, Faithless. BU2B was very strong as well. Pleasant surprise of the night-TCE. I like the song but felt like if the band wasn't into it they wouldn't do it justice. Wrong. I think putting the song in the context of the greater MP album was the key to it for them. It was kind of cool when they finished Vital Signs and Geddy said to the crowd "In case you didn't realize it that was our entire Moving Pictures album. It's 30 years old." Not loving CTTH. Al's solo piece sounds like soundcheck noodling instead of a composition. Howard put together a spectacular rig for this tour, too. The guy in front of us asked me to snap a picture of them during Marathon "Unless Manhattan Project is your favorite song". I just snapped the pic. All in all a very good show. Number 45 for me and definitely in the top 10.

How 'bout that setlist???

I used to live about 1 hour and 20 minutes from MS. Great venue-combining Rush with gambling and excellent food is a fabulous idea. Now I live in Krispy Kreme country...

I air Taurus Pedal. Kinda hard to spot me in the audience.

Were there size choices (asked the XXL)?

My daughter turns 5 tomorrow (7/4). If there was a show closer to the home I would probably take her and sit on the lawn. As it is I have to drive to VA for the only show I'll catch this year so it's just not feasible. Next year if there is an NC show I'll be bringing her.

Anybody else think there might be something else up their sleeves? I dunno-it just looks a couple of songs light to me. Could there be a surprise?

I'm pretty neutral about the setlist with the exception of the one song everyone is most disappointed about. However, I'm really happy about there not being too many S&A songs and also really happy to NOT see a few songs in the setlist that have become utterly predictable. As far as the pacing (specifically the first set) is concerned-go back and read set one of the VT tour setlist. It has pretty similar pacing to it IMO. Bravado and The Pass back to back isn't exactly a powerhouse combo (although I like both songs). I'm also really excited about one song in set one that has never been played before-NEVER thought I'd see the day. I think that song could be the surprise of the night.

I like that...though I am disappointed with no J/L, who cares?!? It's freaking Rush and it's all good! And dont forget the hard cores are still getting their # 1 wish of Camera Eye. (How easily we forget) I read it as you being "upset", not as Presto being an "upset" choice. My bad. I agree that Presto is a pretty illogical choice, but that's why I'm happy with it. I think the decision to deliver MP in its entirety made this a really difficult show to lay out. If you think about it there really isn't any other place to put those 7 songs except where they ended up (opening set 2). Also surprised to not see "Wind Blows"-to me that was the strongest S&A cut live next to Far Cry.
