Hemispheres, but thats right now. Ask me again in a month.

Interesting to note: as of this time there are no votes for a post-MP album.

Permanent Waves. I discovered Rush with this album, and it made me look at music in a completely different way. Kansas' Leftoverture introduced me to prog rock, but PW sealed the deal.

I hate when this question comes up and I usually go with "Hemispheres" with "Counterparts" coming in a close second. This time, however I did go with "Counterparts". Like "HYF" for BSG this album means so much to me emotionally. When it first came out my first thought was 'Damn, they're rocking HEAVY again', and a few months later my life was turned upside down and this album was all I listened to, no matter whatever happens RUSH is always there for me. CP always will hold a SPECIAL place with me.

Signals, definatly. It was the 3rd album I bought (technically 2nd, because I bought PerW and MP on the same visit to Best Buy), during a very trying time in my life (who hasnt been here during HS?). I definatly have deeper feelings and experiences I relate for a number of these songs.

Rush is one of those bands that is hard to pick only one great favorite album as their entire body of work contains excellence throughout...i can't really picka fav album but i do have a fave period and that was the early 80's from PW to signals....

Not this question again??? biggrin.gif

Well, admittedly their best studio albums are Moving Pictures and Hemispheres.. But my personal favorite is Signals so I voted for Signals.

Went with Hemispheres. I get really drawn into this album.

It's always been tough for me to choose my favorite Rush cd, but, I would have to say it is Moving Pictures. I always thought they blended the synths in the best during this time period.

Do I have to say? Read my signature line and you shall know the truth! biggrin.gif

My holy trinity consists of Hemispheres, Permanent Waves and Grace Under Pressure.

But Grace is probably the album I would grab with me if a fire broke out in my apartment... So Grace it is. biggrin.gif

I voted for Hemisheres as well...I guess mostly because it meant a lot to me when I was 16. At the time, It seemed like every Rush album was getting better than the last one. 2112 then ATWAS, FTK , then Hemisheres. I remember wondering where the band was going to go from there. I listened to Hemispheres for about a full year before I got sick of it. When PW released, another corner was turned it seemed to me. There was radio play of TSOR, and shorter songs again. It also took me only a few months to tire of the album. When MP came out, I could only listen to LL a couple of times befor I would not play it anymore. These latter two albums are great!, but not the same to me as Hemisheres. Every song it truly great, except Circumstance, which is merely "GOOD".

Well, went with Hemispheres because it is close to perfect. Circumstances is awesome! I would rather hear that over the Trees any time. But All of that album is great, period. Permanent Waves is also my favorite. These two always nudge each other out of the way for me. I've been on a Hemispheres thing lately too. I guess it comes down to the fact that I will skip Different Strings and occasionally Entre Nous, whereas Hemispheres must be played continuously from start to finish. Edited by CygnusX-1Bk2

How can this be??? Circumstances, to me ,sounds like it was written musically in just a few minutes!...It has the rustic interlude, which is the most enjoable part of the song, but frankly seems like a song thrown in to fill out the album....Soooo how many tours has Rush thrown Circumstances into the set???hmm....sorry to be so critical...if you like the song, then you like it...it is just that The Trees is my all time favorite Rush song...When it came out, I loved it right away...And while the Beegees , Cheap Trick, and Styx were on the radio, i was listening to Hemispheres...especially The Trees.
