Any Blondie fans on here?

When I was a kid not only did I have a crush on her I totally dug her music and her voice of an angel.

The band kicks ass too.

Did she start the new wave punk movement?

Also was "Rapture" the first song to ever crossover rap with rock?

Sincerely,

"Walk This Way" with Aerosmith and RUN DMC

I have "Parallel Lines" and "Autoamerican" in vinyl somewhere in the house - it seems a box of MY records has gone MIA...

confused13.gif my husband claims he's innocent.

I liked Picture This, 11:59, Fade Away.

I also liked Lene Lovich's "Flex" album, but I'm probably the only person on the Fourm who has it...

Blondie started out punk but they were the kind of band they approached various genres. "Heart of Glass" is definitely a disco song.

The B-52's were also a punk/new wave act in the beginning. I'd say 1978 or 1979 was the birth of new wave.

Yep, I can still get down to some Blondie when in that punk/new wave mood. Along with the Talking Heads and The Ramones, my fave three from the CBGBs era 653.gif

Oh, Rapture! laugh.gif

In general, New Wave and skinny tie music, NO. It was part of the ugliness of the '80's.

However, Blondie (and Debbie Harry... wub.gif ), yes. They're Atomic.

Lene Lovich! Now there's a name I hadn't heard in a while. "Mein Schmerz" was a damn good song - she had a great voice.

Blondie - yeah, I still can rock out to "Heart Of Glass" when I hear it.

Wasn't it one of the first mainstream "rap" songs that was popular?

That is correct my young padawan. tongue.gif wink.gif

I used to LOVE listening to that one on the radio. They played it often.

We only had the AM station though, so that part sucked.

Well I thought I liked you, but then you had to list that you saw ACCEPT.

I am sooooooooooooo jealous.

Hell I just wrote a TOP TEN LIVE ALBUM THREAD and included Accpet's "Staying A Life" double cd. Only Japan and the UK did the double cd. Not the lame USA.

Anyway that is awesome.

I know this is totally off topic but what year did you see ACCEPT???

Come on and "HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT!"

I can take it!

Benatar is great!

No matter if you are a man or a woman, one thing stands true.

I belive it was 1984, maybe `83 . . . .

Accept opened for Aerosmith & Scorpions, Big outdoor show in Phoenix in the Heat !

Me & my brother went together & had a blast

We brought an icechest in ( they were alowed then )

we had Jack Daniels duct taped to the bottom of the cooler

The bonus was Accept, figured I would see them again, but never have.

They were good. Clem Burke was a serious punk rock drummer. Kind of reminded me of Keith Moon, but much more restrained.

You could see he was a big Keith fan, appearance as well as style. Serious indeed.
