I am missing Ghost tonight as a headliner. I want to cry!

Ghost is playing in a small tiny dumpy dive tonight called Bottom Of The Hill. I have absolutely no idea how the band will even fit on that stage.

I can only hope that this triple bill comes to Northern California.

Not even sure if dates are up yet. Guess I should start looking.

GHOST RULES!!!

I might just go for Ghost and Opeth and then split.

I have all of the Mastodon albums too but they just don't do it for me.

Ghost rules....out of all 3, they are the ones I look the most forward to seeing...

I'm kinda embarassed, but I didn't realize how awesome Mastodon was until recently by listening to more of their stuff on youtube (awesome videos too). Anywho, I made use of an Amazon gift card I had stitting around and ordered Leviathan, Blood Mountain, and Crack The Skye. These seemed to be the most interesting and highly reviewed of their five studio albums. Can't wait to get 'em! 1022.gif

shoulda picked up The Hunter.

I'm sure I will after I fully digest these 3 slabs of mammoth wink.gif metal!

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!

Went to the Opeth/Mastodon show in Dallas... Unbelievable. Huge Opeth fan and have really only been listening to Mastodon for a year or so, and I was floored by their show. 1022.gif 1022.gif 1022.gif 1022.gif

Opeth and Mastodon are a KILLING bill!! History in the making. These two bands, along with Porcupine Tree and maybe Gojira, will be known as the Big Four of this decade a few years from now.

Totally this. Throw in Devin Townsend as well.

I was there! biggrin.gif Front row with my son, right in front of Mastodon's Bill Kelliher. He handed me a pick! Their drummer is crazy good. I'll try to get the pictures up tonight.

It was an AMAZING show. Wasn't all that hip on Ghost, though. Interesting, but... meh.

I'm so jealous. I wanted to go, but my wife's cousin, who is the only other person that I know who like Mastodon and Opeth, had a broken foot, and couldn't make it to the show. angry.gif

Did they play Oblivion on this tour? They didn't when I saw them back in November.

Holy shit, I finally picked up The Hunter a couple weeks ago and have had it in continual rotation. Its their best album and just an amazing achievement. I was initlally skeptical about this album, because Brent Hinds (he's the one that sounds Ozzy-ish right?) hardly sings on it, but it doesn't really matter. Previously, people had posted that this album isn't as 'prog' as its predecessors, but I totally disagree. Length of songs isn't the only thing that makes music prog. Simply put, Mastodon has progressed yet again. They have finally dialed it in, trimmed off the fat and gained complete control over their material. The Hunter is one of the best albums I've heard this millenium. 1287.gif

Is Crack The Skye a satanic album?

I need to know!

Does The Hunter have any swearing?

Is Crack The Skye a satanic album?

Crack The Skye doesn't come remotely close to sounding like a satanic album. Taken directly from the said album's DVD, the general theme of album relates to the classical element of aether. The songs themselves revolve around storyline that combines the art aesthetics of Tsarist Russia, astral travel, out of body experience and of all things, Stephen Hawking's theories on wormholes.
