This thread is to celebrate comedians who have passed on.

I'd like to start with Dave Allen. A favorite of mine when I was a kid-teen watching on public TV.

We can't get his DVD in the states but luckily youtube has some gems as usual.

this is a classic:

RIP Dave!

Anyway, who was your favorite/s?

I'd have to add the following folks:

Richard Pryor - practically the father of modern comedy, folks often forget how good he was and how different he was in his time - very very funny

Sam Kinnison - yes, foul, and he had that LOUD schtick, but he was also hysterical

Buddy Hackett! If you saw his HBO special back in 1983, then you know what I'm talking about. It's on Youtube, broken up into 4 parts. Here are the links:

Part 1.

Part 2.

Part 3.

Part 4.

I forgot he was dead. That special is the greatest, I dont need to watch cause Ive committed it to memory.

I still tell jokes form that special today, the snow geese gag, the dentist joke, and some others (why gun is a worse word than a-s..)

I LOVED Buddy....

Kinison is just a lost treasure to comedy. I never laughed so much.

Here is a great (and clean, even) song he sang on Johnny Carson.

Are You Lonesome Tonight?

This is probably the funniest stand up routine in history, IMO.. I used to have it on VHS years ago, but it disappeared.. I hope it gets resurrected on DVD some day..

Dentist: That tooth has to come out.

Lady: I think I'd rather have a baby.

Dentist: Make up your mind, I have to adjust the chair.

OMG, they are endless.....

Most recently, one of my favorite comedians off'd himself a few months back: Rickard Jeni. I saw him live less than a year ago. Always like him.

The maestro. Good, clean, honest humour. One of the best.
