J2112YYZ
Yea Black Clouds is climbing my list. used to hate it........now i don't know why, lol the only song i'd Nix is the Best of Times. really drags the album down. Mick Yeah, The Best Of Times is the only one I don't care about. I get why the song was made but it just ran too long for my liking. I've heard them do all the other songs off the album live and they all came off great. When I saw them on that tour, I was able to get an off date from them opening for Maiden. Really good set and since they were opening at the time they didn't have their whole stage show, so it was just them playing on stage with a few lights and that was it. You won't ever see them more stripped down than that. I can't remember if i was a member here when I saw that show. But if I was, then i'm sure there's a review in this thread. Here's the set from that show. Very well balanced I thought. http://www.setlist.f...y-53d47fb1.html Edited December 7, 2015 by J2112YYZ

Segue Myles
What is the Dream Theater fanbase like?! As nuts and annoying as the Rush one? Coz I find the bands somewhat similar and wondered if the fanbase were as well...

djflex
So, what is generally thought of as the best live album? I listened to once in a livetime the other day it was good
Rod in Toronto
The Best of Times has one of Petrucci´s best solos, but it does go on for too long. For em their best live albums are Live at the Marquee (LaBrie at the height of his powers!!!), Score and Budokan. From their latest lineup, Breaking the Fourth Wall is cool too. I like Systematic Chaos, but people give it a bad rap because of Repentance (which is not heavy as the other songs from Portnoy´s "booze saga") and Prophets of War, which many think is a lame attempt at doing a Muse song. I´ve followed all their tours since Octavarium and also saw them at a festival in 1999 (Falling into Infinity tour). The most special shows I´ve seen have got to be these two in Tokyo January 12th, 2006: · The Root of All Evil· Another Won· A Fortune in Lies· Under a Glass Moon· Caught in a Web· Peruvian Skies· Strange Déjà Vu· Solitary Shell· About to Crash (Reprise)· Losing Time/Grand Finale· As I Am· Endless Sacrifice· I Walk Beside You· Sacrificed Sons· Octavarium· Encore:· Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper January 13th 2006: · The Glass Prison· This Dying Soul· Never Enough· Panic Attack· Just Let Me Breathe· Raise the Knife· Home· Highway Star(Deep Purple cover)· Child in Time(Deep Purple cover) · Smoke on the Water(Deep Purple cover)· The Mule(Deep Purple cover) (with drum solo)· Strange Kind of Woman(Deep Purple cover) · Lazy(Deep Purple cover) · Space Truckin'(Deep Purple cover) · Encore:· The Spirit Carries On· Pull Me Under
Segue Myles
Dream Theater are fast becoming one of my favourite bands! Entering Nightwish/Toto/Trillion levels of LOOOOOOOVE!
Segue Myles
Dream Theater are the real deal: whoever thinks they are overrated are wrong. Going to be really, really honest: I like them more than Opeth, Mastodon, Paradise Lost and Iron Maiden. And listening to them over and over and over is justification for that high praise: I NEVER BINGE LISTEN TO ANY OF THOSE OTHER BANDS!

Mick The only thing wrong with BCSL is A Nightmare to Remember is about 2 minutes too long. Otherwise, it's great.TCoT is really amazing, cheesy cookie monster vocals and all.

Segue Myles
Playing Awake. First thing I notice is that I am not hating 6:00, but it is easily the worst songs I have heard from them thus far. But the energy is infectious! Hopefully another top notch album...
