I've heard 4 songs on youtube. i guess they were the ballads and that is my least favorite aspect of DT or any group for that matter.

 

i still think the absence of MP does not lead to a substantial change in the bands sound and if you liked the previous discs you will like this one too.

I have not heard the new DT yet. I will buy it on the 13th. I do think Snakes And Arrows is a snoozefest and maybe the worst album in the career of Rush, imo. Either S&A or RTB.   To each his own. There's maybe two good tracks on the album but no real killer cuts, maybe Bridges In The Sky.

Seems to be more keyboards and LeBrie's vocals have been treated to make them sound more musical

Bridges in the Sky and Breaking All Illusions are both awesome, and Lost Not Forgotten, This is the Life, Outcry and Beneath the Surface are all major winners as well.   Rush is the best band ever.   DT is awesome, too.   'Nuff said.

Bridges in the Sky and Breaking All Illusions are both awesome, and Lost Not Forgotten, This is the Life, Outcry and Beneath the Surface are all major winners as well.   Rush is the best band ever.   DT is awesome, too.   'Nuff said. The new album is fantastic. Spectacular playing (as usual), alongside some really great melodies.   Most complete (and best) album since Scenes, IMHO. Songwriting is tremendous. So far, it's pretty retarded! I mean, some songs stick out as being a little too retarded with some silly keyboard sound choices and whatnot. Like the instrumental section in "Outcry". I do enjoy it though, but at times I'm just like "That's just them trying too hard to be off-time and weird". It'll definitely be something to see live though.

 

But then on the other hand, it's got some great stuff like "Breaking All Illusions". That is a killer tune all around with a tasteful solo by JP. However, I feel that the best part of the song (the last 0:40 epic part) just comes out of nowhere...it doesn't fit?!

 

Either way though, I've only listened to it a few times...I'm sure I'll get the whole picture once I've hit the double digits. As for right now though, I'm liking it a lot, and skeptical at certain times!

I am very excited to be seeing them in royal oak. It has a fresh sound and seems they look more comfortable and satisfied with their experiences on the stages. YouTube has a bunch of decent cellcam captures. Mangani's solos are looking stellar already, and he's just getting warmed up.
