GeminiRising79
Seeing that we're all human and make mistakes, has anyone ever identified musical errors of any instrument or recording/effects device, at any level, on any Rush track? If so, where? Thanks
driventotheedge
I've seen mistakes form any number of musicians live including Alex. I always enjoy it cuz it makes you know they're truly performing live. Studio recordings I have not but I'm not a musician either so...........

JARG
There's a picking error at the 2 second mark here: http://youtu.be/syEBKVIZO34 Edited December 25, 2020 by JARG
Entre_Perpetuo
There's a picking error at the 2 second mark here: http://youtu.be/syEBKVIZO34 Oh yeah! I was about to say I couldn't recall any but I have noticed that one for a long time. Funny enough, it's one of those mistakes that makes it sound wrong when it's played right. In terms of hearing mistakes live, I distinctly heard Alex miss one note in the lead on Distant Early Warning when my dad and I saw them live on R40 (it was the Chicago show). I believe he played a major third instead of a minor third and it sounded really off for the split second it lasted, but he quickly corrected it (it was a repetitive lick). It just made me smile when I heard that, to hear one's hero make a little mistake.
jnoble
There's a creaking noise heard like a mic stand fell over in The Twilight Zone right after the first time Geddy sings "come explore your dreams creation..."
Entre_Perpetuo
Oh also there's the distorted bit on the front end of Distant Early Warning, before the keyboard riff kicks in while they're just kind of jamming and building intensity. RushFanForever
Does it really matter if mistakes are present in music? To me auto-tuned music without mistakes is considered a mistake.
HemiBeers
At my first Rush concert in 83, Geddy beefed one of the solo bass breaks in YYZ. You could tell he was pissed.
chemistry1973
2112: Discovery - Alex’s guitar is out of tune- like half the song! What a hack.

Probably was............. though ,especially for guitarist,it's often a one take in the studio, never quite getting it the same live....It's so subtle that omitting it is of no consequence ..all these years I never thought of it as a bum note.... Weatherman
I've always thought there was a bum note at the beginning of Alex's solo on 2112:Overture. It's at 3:07.It's either a bit of purposeful discordance, or his pick slipped. Because he didn't like too many takes, I'm guessing the latter. JARG
Between the 00:07 and 00:08 mark here, it sounds like Geddy hit the "D" note instead of the "E". http://youtu.be/_VcswhBy9tk
