Texas King
One common thing about these 3 'Tallica songs is that they begin with the acoustic guitar intros and become progressively heavier as songs go on. Take your pick. Edited May 22, 2019 by Texas King
treeduck
I've never been a Metallica fan. I bought Master of Puppets in 1986 and was very disappointed. I just couldn't get into it. And in 2016 I listened to the whole album on youtube to see if I'd feel differently about it now and see if I'd been missing out, but it sounded just the same, like a bad punk album. I buried that Music For Nation vinyl copy in the pond in the field not far away in 1986 and in 2016 I had no urge to go out and dig it up again! Let Metallica stay buried.
J2112YYZ
Those songs have acoustic guitar in them? I don't know about that. Fade sounds like it does but the other two definitely not. They are all played electric live. Fight Fire With Fire and Battery have acoustic intros I believe though. Edited May 23, 2019 by J2112YYZ
Entre_Perpetuo
Love all three, but I pretty much think they got progressively better at their progressive thrash ballad thing as from RTL to AJFA. One is like a metal Stairway To Heaven, whereas Fade To Black kind of doesn't arrive anywhere, and Welcome Home reuses Tom Sawyer to get where its going. Each has its merits and wonderful performances, but One is the best piece of songwriting to me.

rocket ignites
"One" is my favorite Metallica song. "Sanitarium" would be top 5. "Fade to Black" is a bit overrated, imo.
custom55
None of the above but IF I had to choose out of the three, Fade to Black.

Still, it's an ordinary, unspectacular song like most of the genre. The only punk band I ever liked is The Offspring. They're punk but at least they have a standout sound.
