snowdogged
I think that My Favorite Headache is a better album but my favorite song from the two albums is Promise from Victor.
ReRushed
Definitely My Favorite Headache. I do think both albums represent what Alex and Geddy bring to Rush. Geddy is more of a craftsman and Alex is more spontaneous and experimental.
bootruss
Headache.. More complete songs, some have great melodys, and better crafted.

Freeze
My Favorite Headache has "Grace To Grace" , while Victor has "Start Today". My Favorite Headache has the best songs overall imo.
rocket ignites
Grace to Grace is the crown jewel. I like MFH by a large margin over Victor.
Mosher
MFH is excellent, and stands up very well with the Rush catalog. Victor meanders between clever, boring, bad, and fun. At that time Alex was still coming out of a few years of feeling his playing was taking a back seat. Sure that had been rectified, but it was clear he wanted to do everything, so he did. The album needed the voice of a band that wasn't there just to support him. Geddy stayed safe, but his safe is a good spot since that zone is already a great place. Victor did prove that Alex can do a lot more, but it also showed that he needs a band with a say in things to tighten it up.

diatribein
Honestly I like every single song on My Favourite Headache better than any song on Victor, but I am not one for instrumentals and I Mother Earth never did anything for me, in large part due to the vocals. Also, My Favourite Headache is in my Top 3 RUSH related albums of all time (that includes actual RUSH albums).
ytserush
No idea. Apples and Oranges. They are very different albums but I love them both. I listen to My Favorite Headache more, but I might enjoy Victor more (Though I don't really like Edwin much) when I listen to it. I really like the differences.
KenJennings
My favorite track from Victor is Mr. X, but all in all, I'm not a huge fan of the album. My Favorite Headache, on the other hand, gets spun pretty regularly. Grace to Grace is probably the best from a great lineup of tracks.
lifeson90
Yeah there's probably more Rush in Alex's solo effort, mainly as he the driving sound of the band, some nice interesting work at times that could've gone straight onto a Rush album but.. Any one of the tracks on MFH could fit the bill of being the best, the whole album's that good, one of most beautifully composed & performed ever laid down in my view. Alex the driving sound of Rush but Ged easily the song-arranging driving force

I don't have a clear favorite, but there are several songs on MFH that I like better than anything on Victor, but I do like the instrumentals on Victor a lot. I used to really like Promise, but to me it hasn't stood up as well.
Todem
I enjoy MFH a lot more. And Alex was my biggest influence on guitar. But the song writing on MFH is simply a lot better. Also the production value is better. Victor has some great moments, some solid tunes and a few absolute stinkers. Just an uneven effort. Where as MFH is very consistent and has some simply fantastic songs.

Mr. JD
Start Today from Victor....should have been a Rush tune... Grace To Grace on MFH should have been too.
LedRush
If we’re talking albums, I have to choose MFH...it is consistently safe and good. Victor takes more chances and has more peaks and valleys. I think I’ll go with Strip and Go Naked as my favorite off of both, but Grace to Grace is amazing.
Fridge
Victor destroys MFH, which is bland, safe and boring. True, it has parts that don't really work, but it's clear that Lerxt is the one who has more fire in his belly and is willing to take a risk.

He needed more METAL too!
lifeson90
Yeah Victor just a notch or two off being a truly great album, just gave Don't Care a good blast and all the potential there to see in that track really, some really different edgy stuff in the album as opposed to Ged's which isnt groundbreaking but just beautifully composed rock music Gotta say it, sounds awful coz the guy puts in a solid performance but one of the big things that stop Alex's effort from reaching the absolute heights is the singer, his voice just never did it for me

Babycat
My Favorite Headache - Home On The StrangeVictor - Shut Up Shuttin' Up Like Mosher, I realised I didn't answer the question either. lifeson90
In the certainty of no more studio Rush I been listening to Victor a lot recently, partly as never gave it the same scientific scrutiny as with Rush albums or even MFH - you know, giving attention to all the little background details etc, and i wondered why i never got round to this attitude Think i discovered why so far as i'm personally concerned after making a Victor playlist leaving out Shut up Shuttin Up The song's ok is Al doing his wackier thing and I'm not knocking it but, the album got much more flow now imo, just seems a normal extremely high-quality almost Rush-style piece of work, without being interrupted by SUSU Strip and go Naked mann what a great instrumental C'mon Al if you stuck for something to do anytime knock out another solo effort man, we're all still here with our hands out gagging for it Edited September 4, 2018 by lifeson90
