Fordgalaxy
Who is the best team Bama beat this year? Mississippi State? Yeah and they finished 8-4. Alabama had a pretty weak schedule and their game before Auburn was against Mercer who is an FCS team. They might as well have been playing a good high school team from Texas.

Dread Pirate Robert
Okay, people, 2 slots filled. Oklahoma and Georgia are both in. Who shall fill the other 2 slots . . . . 2 big games to start soon, to help determine that question . . .

It's hard to win big games when your QB can't hit the broad side of a barn 60% of the time.
Dread Pirate Robert
I didn't watch it. I was tired and went to bed instead. This morning, I am sorry to see that Wisconsin lost and Clemson won. :( Anyway: Let the debate begin between Ohio State and Alabama for the fourth CFP spot http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/page/RoadtoAtlanta120217/alabama-crimson-tide-ohio-state-buckeyes-vie-fourth-spot-cfp

Bama's 2017 resume seems unimpressive, though, in terms of stength of schedule.

In the end, I don't think Bama's 2017 creampuff schedule should get them in.

The article lists those chances as being from 538. I guess they're owned by Disney, but they have a stake in maintaining credibility more than being shills for their parent. Ohio State has 2 losses, and one of those was a blowout loss to Iowa. A case could be made either way. For myself, I simply don't like the idea of two teams from the same conference being in the playoff -- unless the 2nd team is obviously better than any other possibility from another conference. So, I say mix it up. Take Ohio State over Bama. Edited December 3, 2017 by Dread Pirate Robert

So, I say mix it up. Take Ohio State over Bama. It's going to be close. I think it will come down to the politics of the committee. I'm not sure of the makeup of the committee, but I do think that it would mitigate against two teams from the same conference getting in. The Iowa loss argues strongly against anOSU, and Bama's weak schedule (56th in Sagarin) argues strongly against them. On the one hand, the committee chose a non conference title game participant over conference champions last year, so there's a precedent for that. On the other hand, that team embarrassed itself in that game. But that team was Ohio State. I guess I'm glad I'm not on the committee. Though if I was, it would be Ohio State, because while Urban Meyer is probably a psychopath, he's not THE psychopath. :) Edited December 3, 2017 by laughedatbytime
