geezer Posted December 15, 2016 Share Posted December 15, 2016 Coverdale approach to singing since 1987, together with the band change of direction, is what ruined Whitesnake: he turned from a very talented blues rock singer into an unnatural screamer.1987 and Forevermore are still enjoyable albums anyway but seem soulless compared to early works. 1997's Restless Heart was a good attempt to come back to the old path but it didn't last too long. I think their stuff before S/T album are very underrated in America.That title overrated but in the USA belongs to Def Leppard and their albums Pyromania and Hysteria. Big album sales, always touring - always sold-out, and also very popular among the ..... ladies. Great live show from the late 80's. Their other work, esp prior to the 1987 album, is ok but not special. Coverdale had an amazing voice, and even now, when he stays away from the throat ripping stuff, he's great.
