  6. Unbelievable... One of my brother's close friends (whom I knew quite well) died this weekend. There are no details in the story, but my brother has talked to his friends and family and apparently he was on his way to his kid's baseball game and was texting and driving. Drifted off the road and died. So many f***ing people text and drive and think they are good at it. The only redeeming thing about this story is that he didn't kill anyone else. You may get away with it 100 times, but all it takes is one time to die. Wake the f**k up people... texting and driving is just as bad as drinking and driving. http://wxerfm.com/news/articles/2014/jun/29/sheboygan-falls-man-dies-in-rollover/

  10. But admit it, you'd go gay for him. Don't put me on the spot! It's totally fine, when Geddy was singing you call me you call me during the Analog Kid my husband kept holding up his hand like a phone to his ear and singing that line to Alex. The flirtation got him a shirt before 2112.

  13. 30 June 2014 Monday Red Panda The red panda is dwarfed by the black-and-white giant that shares its name. These pandas typically grow to the size of a house cat, though their big, bushy tails add an additional 18 inches (46 centimeters). The pandas use their ringed tails as wraparound blankets in the chilly mountain heights. The red panda shares the giant panda's rainy, high-altitude forest habitat, but has a wider range. Red pandas live in the mountains of Nepal and northern Myanmar (Burma), as well as in central China. These animals spend most of their lives in trees and even sleep aloft. When foraging, they are most active at night as well as dusk and dawn. Red pandas have a taste for bamboo but, unlike their larger relatives, they eat many other foods as well—fruit, acorns, roots, and eggs. Like giant pandas, they have an extended wrist bone that functions almost like a thumb and greatly aids their grip. They are shy and solitary except when mating. Females give birth in the spring and summer, typically to one to four young. Young red pandas remain in their nests for about 90 days, during which time their mother cares for them (males take little or no interest in their offspring). Red pandas are endangered, victims of deforestation. Their natural space is shrinking as more and more forests are destroyed by logging and the spread of agriculture. http://i.imgur.com/pHpkgsC.jpg

In 1989, an outbreak of mad cow disease in the U.K. meant that the import ban was extended to all beef and lamb products. http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff508/blackcc/Smilies%20GIFs/roflpuke.gif "I share many haggis producers' disappointment that American diners are currently unable to enjoy the taste of Scotland's wonderful national dish in their own country," Paterson said recently. 16. Basically it's because they weren't doing what they're good at. Geddy himself said that he's a bass player first and keys are a distant third after vocals.. So why all the keys?? You have the best bass player and the best drummer in the same band, the ultimate rhythm section! They should have focused on that and being the solid stripped down three piece Prog monsters they were instead of trying to fill the world with keyboard noise.. That said I do enjoy all Rush but post signals isn't Rush at their best for sure..

You can play with your friend's boobs and it's not weird. I guess your friends are a lot different than mine To be honest, when I say "play" I just mean doing something silly like this video :D

  18. Haha. I don't know. I would imagine all three made the decision. I do know Geddy definitely wants to spend less time worrying about keyboards on stage. Do you know why? He wants to focus more on his bass. That's his instrument of choice and he would rather be playing that than worrying about synths. Start at the 7:30 mark. He 'splains.

  26. So many of us are used to being able to pick out notes. CA is a wall of sound. When you can hear individual notes there is so much gloriousness! Rush used to have a brilliant formula of breaking the music down so that solos didn't drop out. They dropped everything deliberately before Alex soloed to make is jump out. They knew how to create space and the space they created made the notes stand out. Not on the last three albums. THAT is Terry's genius, not in the mixing. The mixing is its own problem but the arrangements is where they've strayed.

  27. CA is full of moments that suggest this to me...Headlong Flight with a push could have been something gamechanging...as could have the title track... Yes, that is why I have the feeling that their next album will be even better. They are going in the right direction. Another Xanadu is right around the corner....... Not unless they clean up the sound and all the layers in my opinion..... :( A great song is a great song if you get the production right. They need Terry Brown back. Fixed. If Terry Brown is up to the task, and willing to progress with the band, I say YES. If not, I suggest they stick with Nick Rac... and find themselves a better person to mix and master. Snakes And Arrows sounds very clear. However, CA is awesome. It made me go from casual to MEGA FAN. So that is enough to make me grateful.

  35. Well he did that because I hurt his little feelers with this thread. In fairness to him, he really doesn't make that many of these types of threads. It's just that when he does, he picks the shittiest songs that no one wants to hear, and that the band will never play. Couple this with the fact that he makes so many other goddamned threads, and it's easy to see how the "Rivendell in 2015" thread was just a last straw for me. Zumbi strikes me as someone who makes threads just for the sake of making threads, often times. Combine that with any legit threads he makes (he makes threads seeking info about bootlegs, etc) and it becomes overbearing.

  36. I still want to get back to the boobs talk but I have lost a fairly significant amount of weight twice in my life. Recently and when I was in my early 30's. Back then I went from around 200 to 155 in around 6 months. I heard the aids stuff and "whats the matter with you?" too. You always hear the stuff like "you weren't fat before etc." Didn't bother me in the least. I was thrilled with myself and all the hard work I put in. My recent 45 lb weight loss has taken longer but I am 20 years older..... More b☆☆bs! :D

  37. Hi there, I am brand new to the site! Learned about you all after reading Rush FAQ, and was looking for more fans of the book as I believe this to be truly one of the best rock and roll books ever written, PERIOD! So now that you know I am biased, read on! : ) In regards to that horrible review on Amazon, which is mentioned here, I agree, clearly the guy has an ax to grind. But super important: the book never says Rush mimed or did not play live on those old videos - here's a direct quote re: the Xanadu video: "Again, the band is playing live and, again, the studio version of the song was dubbed in." He says the same thing about all the other early videos. He does not say they are mimed. So if you are gonna call out the writer for not being accurate - well, BE ACCURATE!! : ) Mistakes exist in every book about Rush or anything else. Don’t be fooled by one harsh and downright mean review, the book is incredibly well-researched (I know, I am a Rush geek since All the World's a Stage). And it’s so damn much fun to read, with exceptional insight and analysis not found in any other Rush book ever. It's way more than just a book listing Rush facts - (the book needs a better title for sure...) I would call the book Why Rush Matters, and How they made it, or something (I dunno, I’m a drummer and a magician, not an author). Ok, rant over. This is my first post. I hope to stick around so please no hating! Maybe start a thread thingie for fans of the book - the writer poses some interesting topics for discussion - like what do you the Rush’s 3 breakthrough albums are? He says 2112, Moving Pictures, and Snakes and Arrows.

  43. Dude, I am not writing that many songs, so shut up, ok? And everybody else is wishing songs as well. Everybody? No, not "everybody." And I know that not every thread you make is a song wish, but if you used only one thread to do it, it would really cut down on the number of overall threads that you make. I mean really, do you know how annoying it is, on an almost daily basis, to look at the Recent Topics and see your avatar on that list 3-4 times? You tried to shut down a "This or that Rush Song" thread simply because you felt it was getting slow. Well it wasn't getting slow, it was just fine. But you wanted to be the maker of a thread that a lot of people would visit, and would get a lot of posts, and would be around for a while. So you took it upon yourself to declare the one thread closed, and then opened another one, which was entirely unnecessary. Oh, SHUT UP! :P I believe I have said my peace. And oh how I wish it would have worked.... :sigh:

  45. As an aside, these types of lists invariably become a listing of popular songs as "overrated" and obscure ones as "underrated." Tom Sawyer isn't "overrated." It's an amazing song. Dog Years isn't "underrated." It's not very good. I really wish die hard fans of bands would stop thinking that breakthrough albums or songs must be shunned because casual fans like them.
