  1. Past hour
  2. I think she found a lane in pop that wasn’t being explored much and made it her own. She must really care deeply about the music, because little else that gets on the radio would put in the effort it takes to sound that good.
  3. Dua Lipa fascinates me. Her music is in so many ways as vacuous and silly as much of the pop genre is. But...but...THEY ARE AURALLY FASCINATING Her albums are sonically so interesting you can't help but come back to them again and again. Her latest album isn't the most fantastic set of songs I've ever heard, but again, the production keeps me enthused and I happily play the whole thing over and over.
  4. Dua Lipa - Radical Optimism This is an emotional journey. The songs tell the story of someone so entrenched in their own pain and insecurity that they won’t give real connection a real chance, and they wind up hurting other people, but then that desire for realness breaks in and they accept love over control. By the end they find their pain is gone as they realize they only feel happy for people they’ve left behind moving on. Are any of the songs as individually strong as the singles on Future Nostalgia? Probably not, but imo that album also had some kinda frivolous filler, I don’t think this one does. Plus, amazingly, the instrumentals are just as strong, if not stronger. The last record had vibe, this one has atmosphere. I’m reminded of the production of my favorite Muse album in its best moments, The Resistance. A sonic landscape worth revisiting on its own merits, regardless of the songs, which are still good, even great at times.
  5. And I have about 0.5% of the excitement I normally have for a new Nightwish. And that's probably me being generous.
  6. Nightwish went from being my BIGGEST obsession for over a decade to Tumbleweeds The last album did nothing for me. It's not even a bad album, it's objectively brilliant in so many ways...but the pretension that has always been a big charm for me went right up their arse and turned me off.
  7. Today
  8. 10-run inning! The A's have not looked so shitty so far, but what a drubbing.
  9. It wasn't a bad album at all. It might be not to your liking, but there was nothing wrong with it.
  10. Eyes ! Great song. Don't Need a Gun comes in second for me. I flew to Vegas in 2017 to see The Rolling Stones and they canceled the day before the show. Billy was in town so we went to the show. We had a blast ! Great show.
  11. Leave That Thing Alone Dreamline

  14. Required reading for my 8th grade English class. Good movie and book but Rumble Fish is even better.
  15. Of these tracks, Eyes Without A Face is my choice. Flesh for Fantasy is probably my top track.
  16. I have this daydream wherein the allure of The Sphere in Vegas would lure them out for a few shows. Don't spoil my happy dream.
  17. Its official - the new Nightwish album will be released September 20th with the first single being released May 21'st. Lets hope they can also recapture some of their past spitting like so many bands seem to have done this year (e.g. Priest, Saxon, Accept) and that its not a continuation of their last dud of an album
  18. Was watching some news tonight on youtube and The Rational National (who I was watching at the time) started talking about some dude named Macklemore and a new song he put out titled "Hinds Hall". He went through the lyrics and it sounded very good so I decided to check it out. Normally I hate rap & hip - hop but this was EXCELLENT. Tremendous protest song. Worthy of the late 1960's / early 1970's - sum's up much of my thinking about certain events in the world right now. Must have listened to it and watched the video at least a half dozen times. Dam good.
  19. On "Rebel Yell", and "Whiplash Smile", not only the hits, but all of the songs are, and have been great. If "Catch My Fall", was included, then "Flesh For Fantasy", and especially "Don't Need A Gun" maybe, should've been, too. From "Rebel Yell", "Blue Highway", has been an awesome, and amazing deep cut song.
  20. For me its Rebel Yell. White Wedding is a relatively close second.
