They didn't sound anything like other actual prog bands like Floyd, Genesis, King Crimson, Yes, Can, Jethro Till, Gentle Giant, etc. In fact, fans of those bands probably didn't like Rush anyway, although they likely listened to all the bands I just mentioned. By-Tor was their first dip in the prog waters, followed by The Necromancer before the full-on 2112, AFTK, and Hemispheres. I don't think true prog fans accepted Rush until those last two...what's ironic is that Rush made the jump to mainstream commercial success before any of them did with PW and MP (not including Floyd of course).Thu, 13 Aug 2026 00:55:13 +0000I'm still trying to figure out a fan we met in Philadelphia for Geddy's bass book signing in 2019 ! He was really outgoing and it was fun to talk to him but he was in full Parrothead gear- Leis, hawaiian shirt, and grass skirt over his jeans. He told me it was his party outfit and he was there to party; that seemed to work but he stood out that day. If its anyone here- it was fun talking to you! The Winking Lizard is indeed still there—locals sometimes call it the Drinking Lizard, but, yeah, great restaurant and bar. It’s a little bit of a schlep from the venue, but, very doable. With so much material from the Fifty Something Toronto concerts, it seems like overkill to also release the Sphere performances on another Blu-ray. Yet at the same time, it would be unfortunate to not capture the enhanced visuals and any setlist changes that might occur. I guess it's possible that everything could be bundled together though. Edit the Toronto shows for the next year, and then hold back the release until the Sphere shows have been filmed and edited. And with Q Prime as their management now, and kinda following the template of Metallica's tour, I don't see why Rush might do the same after their last 2027 tour date. Taking up residency some months later (to account for rehearsal and video presentation of this venue).
