Another vote for Hemispheres, for La Villa alone.  But the other three songs have some awesome riffs, too.

Interesting. After Hemis he seemed to focus more on texture and rhythm and the songwriting became more streamlined and contemporary.

Hemispheres wins for LVS alone, but I could also see arguments for CoS, 2112 and AFtK.

PeW for me.

Love the solos in TSoR, Freewill and NattySci the most.  JL has a killer solo too

Permanent Waves is one of my two favorite Rush albums. The guitar work, the production, the overall sound...just killer.

Folks will think I am nuts but so be it. Since the poll isn't public just think to yourselves "what @sshole voted for the Debut?"...

I will agree that the riffs on the debut album are just killer- Finding My Way, What You're Doing, Working Man, Before and After, Here Again...and call me crazy, but I just love Take a Friend. I don't know why that one doesn't get noticed more.

I love Take a Friend as well. My favorite next to Here Again and Working.

Maybe not sonically, but Alex's playing on GUP gets my vote.

Red Sector A
I think his creativity here is off the charts.

Kid Gloves
The solo, the solo!

Between the Wheels
Is this the first time they did drop D? And in the early 80s no less.

Afterimage
DUN DUN.. DA DUN DUN

I was going for Hemispheres but I voted for Signals.  I like like Alex's sound on that album.

Too bad it was mixed by the same guy who did Newsted's bass on And Justice for All.

Alex Lifeson is a STAR or Caress of Steel. I must admit that!
He just kicked so much ass on that album.

Those are the two that came to my mind as well.  Book II is obviously a monster and La Villa is THE best guitar track of all time.  Caress is rough around the edges, but can't be beat for reckless abandon.  2112 should also probably be in the conversation.

Caress Of Steel for me
Hemispheres 2nd.

Honorable mentions to Rush and 2112.

I'm just wondering who voted for Hold Your Fire and Presto.  Are there any guitars on those albums?
