163. Wings. The brothers and their little airline going to Nantucket...

Sandwiched between Friends and Seinfeld wasn't it? I thought it was loads better than Friends and occasionally better than Seinfeld. Liked all of those characters pre-Helen's sister's arrival. Antonio Scarpacci & Lowell were my favorites

Better than Friends?

The very definition of faint praise.

I loathed Friends. LOATHE!!! Dumb ass jokes and lame characters. Aniston in mini-skirts was the only endearing part of the show for me. It has gotten tons of praise here at TRF and elsewhere though.

I despise Friends. Awful, awful show. And Aniston, to me anyway, looks like Stan Laurel.

He was sexy in a mini skirt too!

I could never get past the nauseating intro and theme song ... even my dog would have explosive diarrhea when that shit came on

I was the same as your dog.

The explosive diarrhea was the second best thing after Aniston!

After that it was all equal in terms of uselessness :P

Which is the (I believe) Japanese animated show which had 4 leads, 3 male and 1 female? It was a sci-fi show and was on after school in 70s. Any ideas?

Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets?

If so, I wouldn't say there were 4 leads.

That's it. Loved that show. Ya there's 5, totally forgot about the little one. Ha, Casey Kasem voiced one of the characters.

Yeah, I loved that show too.

Have you ever seen the original Japanese version, "Gatchaman"? It's pretty different as it didn't have that little R2D2 looking storyteller and his little robot dog.

These were added to make the tone lighter....and due to the then-recently popular Star Wars. Americanized! I think of it as a California roll. ;) It's definitely good...but it IS different from the original.

Haven't seen the original. Supposedly besides adding characters in the American version they also removed content such as swearing and hints of the transgenderism of one of the characters? Have no idea how good the show actually is as I've never seen it since I was a kid.

All of that is correct. The transgender/hermaphrodite character was the lead villain which you probably remember

166-- The Little Rascals/Our Gang (1955-?). Originally filmed as shorts, they were put on TV via syndication. Good fun and can almost be viewed as documentaries as they were filmed more realistically than movies. Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer died at 31 in 1959 and from his IMDb page: Shot to death by an acquaintance in Mission Hills, California, during an argument over $50 that Switzer felt the acquaintance owed him. The acquaintance pled self-defense, and the judge ruled the death "justifiable homicide."

163. Wings. The brothers and their little airline going to Nantucket...

I was going to post this one. Looks like you beat me to it. It's a pretty long forgotten show these days but I liked it a lot back in the 90's when it was on. It came on right after FRIENDS if I remember right.

I added Gatchaman as I love that show too - I don't think anyone officially put it on the list ..

Astro Boy is yet another show that I loved as a kid ( the original, and later on, the 80s version ) ... There was something magnetic about this show, and in retrospect, the sadness and me vs them thing was a huge part of why I loved it ..

Yeah it wore thin quickly. But this was the first reality show and now we can't get rid of them. So I guess I give it credit for re-populating like cockroaches.

It was an entertaining freeway accident for the first few years.

I saw much of those first few garbage years of Real World (my flatmates watched it so I did)...

In NYC it was that cheesy model Eric who eventually became an MTV VJ.

In L.A. it was that redneck country singer who actually wasn't too annoying of a person but who they TRIED to make look bad.

In San Fran it was that scabby bike messenger Puck who was an attention whore.

Lazy ass tv programming. Lazy is one of the worst things a tv show can be.

Speaking of MTV...

172) Win Ben Stein's Money (goose)

Win_Ben_Steins_Money.jpg

A fun trivia game show featuring the wry humor of Ben Stein as contestants tried to best him in a Q&A format. It also had Jimmy Kimmel, when Jimmy was still cool.

A post-apocalyptic reborn earth..."a world of savagery, sorcery, and super science"...sounds like a 70s Rush lyric. It was a bit dark for a Saturday morning cartoon but it was tons of fun. Check it out if you haven't yet.

Speaking of this dirtbag, let's catch up with the rest of his life:

https://en.wikipedia...ki/David_Rainey

Hmm on probation for felony stalking. Moved to Alabama to drive trucks. Does this surprise anyone?

When you're in your early 20s, being an out of control dick can be kind of interesting.

When you're still acting like this in your 40s after wives and kids, it's just f***ing sad.
