43-- Trailer Park Boys (2001-2007). Ya I know there's new seasons on Netflix starting in 2014 but I've only watched the first few eps and couldn't totally get into it. To me that's a different show, but those original seasons are golden.

They did have an excellent original run. Short enough that they almost didn't run out of funny ideas or become stale.

I don't think where they land on the list matters, at least to me. The numbering is there to keep track of how many we've picked, who chose, etc. Just because TBBT is listed ahead of The Simpsons is in and of itself meaningless. I haven't been picking shows in order of personal best/favourite, but just in whatever comes to my head first, and sometimes someone else's pick influences what I choose next. The same can be said about the Top 500 movies thread, at least for me.

135-- Spartacus: Blood And Sand (2010-2013)/ Spartacus: Gods Of The Arena (2011). Stars Manu Bennett and Lucy Lawless. The show lost a bit of it's soul after season 1 with the passing of original Spartacus actor Andy Whitfield who died of cancer and Hannah leaving, although they both appear in the prequel mini-series S:GOTA.

I haven't seen that show for almost 30 years now but I remember that I really loved it. Sucks that there is still no German DVD version available.

The bands that appeared were just lip synching, but these were one of the few music shows pre-MTV. Dick Clark was whiter than Wonder Bread but still made a reasonable effort to adapt to the young hip crowd. Don Cornelius was straight up pimp and the hippest guy on TV.

I know that it's still very early in this series' run, and it's a very self-indulgent pick. But few shows have ever made me as happy, so quickly, as The Orville has. Representing a resurrection of the "optimistic future" genre, in an era where industry standards only seem interested in advancing a grimdark, cynical visage; The Orville represents a future worth waking up to. Its humor may tack a bit to the juvenile side, but is tempered with thoughtful stories, and genuinely likable characters. Definitely my favorite new show this year, and one that I hope gets to keep exploring for some time.

Sometimes...my dear Lucas...I wonder if, should a Japanese artist choose to video a group of people shitting themselves in slow motion in an abattoir whilst dolls are being stabbed to a black metal soundtrack...you would call it genius and high art haha
