Maybe now he'll reconsider not having children. LOL.

Actually, I think most of us already knew this but it's good that he finally made it official.

I think half the new record is amazing and prog.  The other half is shit pop techno.

Um, what?  Please unpack this with specifics and tell me which songs are "pop techno."

Shit dude, I've been doing my audio homework over the last few days!

I've heard it three times now.  I can't lay down specifics right now.

There are some song that are just sooooo pop techno.

I am sure you are an intellectual.  Most on here are.  Except for loud mouth idiot me!!!

I know nothing about music.

This album is like "Half The World" by RUSH.  Half sucks.  Half is brilliant.

Sarcasm aside, there isn't a single song on this record that is "pop techno."  Saying otherwise is just inaccurate and gives the wrong idea to someone who hasn't heard the album yet and might want to check it out.

I beg to differ, alas I must have hearing damage from playing to Rush albums for 35 years.

There are a few shitty songs on this record.  Drum machine, disco, techno pop.

Good for Steven for trying to write a hit song in 2017.  I am sure he wants to outsell KESHA or KATY PERRY!

Are you kidding me?

Hey?  To each their own!

I like most of the new record but here are a few shitty pop techno disco songs on the record.

Most of the record is "GOOD."

But some is.....

Oh yeah.... sarcasm and puns....  I live for this moment......

BAD "TO THE BONE!"

Love,

George Thorogood And The Destroyers

I'm just a rock and roll critic with no power at all.

Everyone had their own "Freewill" to decide what they want to hear.

Yes, I am an opinionated jerk with music.
It's my true passion in life next to drumming.

I never made it, but I still drum daily.

I played "Hemispheres" and "A Farewell To Kings" today back to back in that order.

It made me feel so good and happy.

Some days are better than others. It's life.  We all have our our shit and happiness to have.

I take Steven Wilson very serious as an artist, as for my 49 year young brain there really isn't that much left that excites me.

"To The Bone" is mediocre with some good shit weaved throughout.

Maybe my opinion will change with more listens.

You know I love to jump the gun.
You know I love to jump the shark.
You know I love to be that "Double Agent"
You know I love Ozzy's "Shot In The Dark."

I love a very good debate or argument, especially over music.
We all will never agree but I love most forum members on here.
Even when I'm a dick I meet a good friend through a silly "Misunderstanding!"

All good K!

Love,

GENESIS

Long-winded diatribes aside, you still cannot name what songs on the album are techno pop...because there aren't any!

I absolutely can name one track on "To The Bone" that is completely pop techno.  Without the long winded typing!

"PERMANATING"

Did Steven completely rip off Daft Punk?

Give me a break!  Song sucks turkey balls.

Serious question: do you know what techno is?

Permanating is undoubtedly a pop song, in the vein of ABBA, but techno?  My God, no.

I love Permananting.  Fantastic album.  Love it more and more the more I listen.  This and the new Queens of the Stone Age are on CONSTANT rotation.

To the Bone is my favorite of his solo works and along with Insurgentes the only ones I like. The feel that early PT up 'till In Absentia was in a league of its own. I hear talk of the comparison of Pink Floyd to his early stuff, but damn, I can't hear it myself.

(I think early PT is better than Floyd)

I really don't want anything specific from Wilson.  I would rather he do what he wants and I like it or I won't.  In fact I rather DISLIKED both of his first two solo albums (literally never listen to either of them) and then along came Raven and I was wow'd.   And HCE...wow'd again.  Genius keeps you coming back.

I'm sure this is no news, but speculation is over. It's a dead band now. This is probably the biggest heartbreak for me. Porcupine Tree's official closure is only rivaled by Rush, when they eventually call it quits.

This is a bummer to me. PT was better than sliced bread.

I've heard some rumblings of this over the past few...saw him solo a few years back, and it was great stuff!    There's a book coming out about the band soon (I think I'll be getting it in January) that has the story of the band...guessing it mentions the end.

That was some great stuff...just bummed I never got to see "THAT" band live...
