MOR Rush

Which is fine...its thats what you are into. I can abide that. I like about half of it, time has not been kind to Presto.

Some possible meanings of MOR:

Modulus of Rupture (would be a cool band name)

Mid-Ocean Ridge

Mathematics of Operations Research

Management of Risk

Model Order Reduction

Monthly Operating Report

Morendo (a musical term: dying away in tone and time - is that what you meant?)

Meteorological Optical Range

Mortality Odds Ratio

Mortal Oscillatory Rate

Military Operations Research

Mission Operations Review

Middle of Road (I'm guessing you meant this one)

Memorandum of Record

Mandatory Occurrence Report

....etc. (whew!)

If I have to listen to my Presto CD, what will I use for my beer coaster?

Oh nevermind, I'll dig out my Hold Your Nose Fire CD

I just ordered both the HYF and P/G new vinyls. That whole run from Signals to Presto was spectacular in terms of melodies and sonics.

I hope it's far enough from the middle of the road that I don't have to swerve to run it over.

I think that about 75% of Signals is great- two songs are that are just sort of meh. I totally agree with the rest of your statement, though.

Presto was the first new album of theirs that came out after I had become a fan. Overall, it's not one of my favorites, but I LOVE "Show Don't Tell", "Presto", and "The Pass". "Show Don't Tell" was the first "new" Rush song I got to hear on the radio, so it will always have a special meaning to me. "Warpaint" and "Available Light" are good, too. Too bad the production is so thin sounding.

Forget Presto. I want to know what kind of speakers those are. What kind of word are they made from? Is there a sub?

Those are Acoustic Zen Adagios in maple burl.

I have an old Velodyne 8" sub but I rarely use it. The Adagios are comfortable down to about 25 Hz or so.

Then you'll probably enjoy the Audio Fidelity version of Presto. It's not a miracle worker, but the bass is a bit punchier. Haven't heard the vinyl reissue yet, but the Audio Fidelity might be the best version I've heard. It's better than original and the first Atlantic remaster. It's been ages since I've spun the original vinyl, but I don't recall it standing out either.

It's catalog number AFZ 182 if you're scoring.

Still better than Caress of Steel and Counterparts.

The worst song on Caress Of Steel is better than the best song on Presto

I may compare the two tonight as I close the cigar lounge.

Definitely a bit underrated. Better than Roll the Bones, Counterparts, Test for Echo, Snakes & Arrows and Clockwork Angels. Not that that's saying much though, but it's a good album albeit with 2-3 stinkers. Edited by Irenicus
