But only to the rhythm of Lee and Peart. When the Watchmaker retires the world stops.

Those of us who are sports fans get what Peart is saying. Brett Farve's last season with the Jets was sad to watch as it happened. So many of us NFL fans don't want to see Peyton Manning come back to play. Why??? We believe his body can't do it anymore, we don't want Brett Farve's last season.

So why won't many people cut Peart some slack? I'd argue most of those people are not drummers, that most of those people don't believe he can't physically do it at a high level. They believe he selfishly wants to sleep in and make PB&J sandwiches for his daughter instead of touring.

Why can't you people get it? Why can't I get it?

Favre ended his career with the Vikings two years later.

An INT away from a Super Bowl, I might add.

Neil, it's been fun. You gave it your all for 50 years through triumphs and tragedies. The R40 tour and The Story So Far showed you still had the fire of a drummer in you. But like many good masters at their crafts, you know when to hang it up when you're still on your game.

Enjoy your retirement. You've earned it.

Congratulations Neil, you just pissed away the best thing you've ever had.

It just proves blood is indeed thicker than water.

After four decades of holding it in, I am sure you'd want your urinate all over the place as well.

Dumb. Fanboy. Post.

I just can't believe he's willing to throw what he created away so quickly.

Forty years is such a small amount of time.

Agreed.

It's not a surprise, it's been obvious touring and making albums with RUSH has been a chore for him for a long time.

You are projecting. At least about the making albums thing.

Projecting? I'm not a retired drummer, he said he is.

So you think there's going to be a new album? When?

They only had what 12 albums....multiple live CD/DVDS. touring each album.

Very very very rash decision Neil.

It sounds like Neil has been taking advice from Neil Young lyrics. I get enough of that from Mr. Blues! Anyway, how many people get a second chance with happiness and a new family after a devastating tragedy? Best wishes Neil and family, and thank you for the wonderful gift of music that you have given to us, the fans, over the last 41 years.
