Segue Myles
My vote goes to Yes. Tales From Topographic Oceans is the greatest album I have ever heard (not y favourite, but almost). No band ever came close to be honest, and its greatness casts a massive shadow on the rest of Yes' classic output for me.

presto123
Rush, King's X, Queensryche, Dream Theater, Maiden for me. That is if you consider all these bands prog metal. Muse is metal at times and it is damn good stuff. Progressive Queen.

Of course there are only a few Rush records where they could fall into the metal category IMO. King's X are super heavy and progressive at times so I think they qualify personally. bluefox4000
I would have said Dream Theater, BTW. But as much as i love them. Man do they have a wildly inconsistent discography. Mick

Mick ...and much like Rush everybody will probably disagree which are the good records and which are not so good. I still think Awake is the best record they have ever done. Mainly because it flows so well, is so atmospheric, and the band held back just enough that it doesn't have that feel of a bunch of musical exercises strewn together like some of their records do. JohnRogers
Rush and Queensrÿche have always held the number one and two spot for me. This Symphony X sounds interesting, perhaps Mastodon too?

If not you will love them if you like Rush and Queensryche IMO. Edited August 4, 2015 by presto123

Tombstone Mountain
Queensrÿche put out my favorite concept album ever. Talk about ahead of it's time. That's metal opera in my book. Surprised Kings X wasn't on that list. Mastodon. God I love that band. Totally freaking amazing group. However, they're the acorns from the trees.
