bluefox4000
9. Tambourine. This is Gorgeous. Very country once again. That's one i love. Tumbleweed-ish. There is such a laidback album nature to this album. Mick
bluefox4000
10. The Open Chord. Love the little string plucks. Reminds me of the boy in the Red Shoes. Love the little Organ punctuations on this album. So first impressions 10/10. the most up-beat fun but also laid back Elton Album in a while. Lightyears better then the Diving board. Adam if you read this.......listen to this. Early fav songs. Wonderful Crazy NightClaw HammerI've Got 2 WingsLooking UpGuilty PleasureTambourine but through and through........great album. Segue Myles
Mick! ReGor got me started on Bowie with a one album per decade recommendation list. Could you give me JUST ONE album per decade of Elton John, and his BEST, not what you find most Segue friendly haha! I am eager to try him, the time is right! I think for Bowie, the first decade will be the seventies.

Rush included, even if I do think they didn't drop in quality at all in the eighties (a bad album is inevitable, but after Signals the standard went back to top notch for me).

Elton had one of my fav runs in the 70's........like 8 straight classics before slowing down mid 70's beating easily the famous Kansas run. Heard plenty (I do live in England, after all), but I am respectful towards him! I am also genuinely interested in the guy, as he has had an amazing career.
Segue Myles
If Elton has an album run to beat regarding the seventies, it isn't kansas for me, it is Springsteen. Kansas has my favourite seventies run from a band, but Springsteen's run of albums from Greetings to The River remains my favourite of all time, any decade, followed by Lacuna Coil's entire career.

Entre_Perpetuo
70s Elton John is easily one the most stunning and astonishingly fearless pop artists of all time. How his greatest hits and rise to international stardom came with the complex songs and albums he and Bernie wrote, how Tiny Dancer became such a huge hit clocking in at roughly six minutes, how the heck he sang and played piano so well and wound up paired with one of the greatest rock lyricists of all time (man was/is a poet), it's got to be more than fate. The 70s were just better I believe, great stuff like that never would've made it in another decade.
