3 of the 4 teams with the best records in baseball are in the NL Central.

Cards have the best record in MLB.

Pirates would hold division title everywhere else but the ALC, where KC is running away with it.

Cubs would hold division title everywhere else but ALC as well. Cubs also 0.5 back from Pitt after they dropped two more to St. Louis.

Goddammit, St. Louis.

Dodgers 3.5 up on the Giants. :7up:

You're welcome.

Relevant post.

Do you gave a back-up team as an emotional hedge? I am 1. A's; 2 Dodgers

If you think I think the Cubs will get past St. Louis you're nuts. Whoever wins in the wild card - right now it'd be Cubs vs. Bucs - has to battle the Cardinals in the playoffs, and I don't see it happening with either the Cubs or Pirates (just look at how the Bucs are getting manhandled at Busch Stadium). We can beat the Pirates, though most of our games with them so far were early in the season when they weren't playing any better than Cincinnati. Beating the Cardinals in the playoffs would singlehandedly give the Midwest a wave of heart attacks, but I don't think it'll happen.

I'll watch the Jays - who are much like the Cubs, good hitting, pitching needs work - on the AL and the Dodgers on the NL.

The Royals, not the Blue Jays, remain the favorites to win the World Series at every Vegas sportsbook surveyed today.

Royals, Blue Jays, Dodgers, Astros, Mets are the Favorites.

Pirates win again! (even if it took 14. . . )

If the Pirates OR Cubs were in any other division besides NL or AL Central, they would be leading . . . . but with a wild card battle looming, this has potential to deteriorate to BowlCity and myself throwing cans of Iron City and Old Style ?? towards each other :D :D kidding !

(Maybe Ged will join the thread now that he has time on his hands!)

Its gotta be nice to be a Pirates fan right now. 20 years of futility later. I mean I i know how it is when we go thru one of our dry spells here, thankfully they only last 3-4 years at a time. We've had a pretty nice run since '99 and especially fun since Melvin took over as manager. The last year has been rough, but its better than going thru 20 years of this.

Yes, a nice summer! The challenge for the Pirates forever has been keeping a good team of guys together; the Pittsburgh market is such that the revenue coming in is hardly ever going to allow them to pay what some other teams pay once a player becomes a free agent, but with McCutchen, Kang etc a few years away from that we can enjoy this season!!

Yep, welcome to being an a's fan. Oh and btw I very much enjoyed watching Jason Kendall grit his job out for a few years here. He pulled off some pretty amazing stunts that I am still amazed over. Dude was pretty crazy..I wont say much about his bat, but behind the plate there was no one harder.

Hello, back-to-back-to-back home runs in the 7th by Moreland, Napoli and Andrus against the Marinated! Yay us! Welcome home, Napoli, and welcome back to the mound, Holland!!!! We are on a roll!

There is an interesting feel to the Rangers this year...If Holland is solid I think they might have the pitching to make the Wild Card. Rangers are my 2nd favorite team, and favorite AL team

We have a good chance for the wild card. But, we continue to chase the Angels and Astros, which is frustrating.

Napoli got hit with a pitch that bounced off the dirt. He almost took it right in the face. It was an insanely close call:
