Ok, am I the only one that doesn't want Rush to end it?

Seriously, Can't they tour a few more times after this and THEN call it quits?

The way that some people are telling them "Oh don't worry, you don't owe us anything just stay home and relax!", do you really expect them to go, "Thanks for the advice, let's cancel the tour, crush all the young Rush fan's dreams of seeing us life, and retire!"

They're not done yet. They got enough respect for the fans to let us know when the end will be. There was no indication given that this will be their last tour. We'll know when it's the end because there's too much money to be made with a farewell tour. Yes, we are getting close to the end, I don't think anyone will deny that. But I still see at least one or two more albums and a couple of shorter tours lasting only about a month or so each before they call it quits. This upcoming tour will be the last big one they do but it won't be the final one.

I expect this to be the last Large scale tour. I can see a 10-15 city tour being put together Late fall/ Early 16. Lots of markets can/ do support Rush every tour.

No Cleveland/ Pittsburgh, 1 date in Fla.....lots of ground to cover if they want.

No. To answer the question. :codger:

Exactly.

I don't want them to call it quits, ever- but they are human beings.

I'd love for them to all be 25 years old again, too, and still have all of that energy and growth ahead of them. But facts are facts, and life is life.

Just enjoy every moment that they still have to offer us.

Translation: You want them to tour when they're almost 70 years old.

We Rush fans have to stop being so selfish. They've had a magnificent, wonderful career. It's time for them to retire and enjoy life without US.

This is the way I feel too. Not to say I won't be upset about it, but it's the way it is. I wish I was 25 years old again, but it's not going to happen. Crap on toast.

I don't want them to end but people get older slower.......and we physically break down. and i don't want them to hurt themselves.

they should do what's gonna be right for them and their health.

No true RUSH fan wants it to end but lets face it. Its coming sooner than later. Do I feel this is their last tour? No! I think they have one more in them after this one which I think will be short and will support their last Album Called Blackjack!

What he said.

Alex and Neil are basically saying it's time. Geddy reluctant, but probably near that as well, though he wants to continue making music.

They've had a great run.

Better to go out on top than to fade as so many bands do milking the cash cow, playing casinos, shadows of their former selves.

So Ged is pretty much the only reason why they still tour?

And even though they deserve a nice retirement shouldn't mean that they should be forced into it by the fans. I for one really can't stand it when fans do that. It's basically turning your back on your favorite band and playing them off for a bunch of has-beens.

I do not want them to continue performing to the point where they become a sad joke. Let them keep their dignity.

Not really, but it's VERY telling when Alex, who has always been frothing at the mouth to perform seemingly at every chance, is saying he's kind of ready to hang it up.

And Geddy's instrument - his voice - is the one element of the band most vulnerable to wear and tear. We've been hearing it decline just a bit every tour for several years now. I am amazed, frankly, that he's so eager to put himself through the rigors of another tour, as arguably he's the one who feels the most pain.

I woould easily accept a 2 hrs setlist instead of the 3hrs / 2hrs45mins hours played in the last tours if it could help retaining the full force stamina.

After all 120 mins shows was their dimension until mid 90s.

I would buy a ticket anyway!

Been listening to Alex very carefully & you can hear it in his tone, he's probably only good for one more big tour

And,

Due to what is now gonna be a 2 out of 3 vote next time I doubt we will see them again

Also, Not one of them have mention any New material, They could play some "New" music on this tour like they did on the Time Machine Tour

All I Know is I'm gonna see them 3X this tour & last show in L.A. I will wave goodbye! :hi:

Of COURSE I would love if Geddy, Alex, and Neil had the ability to tour for ANOTHER 40 years, but let's face it - they are as human as the rest of us. They are in their 60's now, Neil has a young daughter and wife I'm sure he would like to be able to enjoy spending the rest of his life with - especially after losing one family already, i'm sure he would want to cherish the time he spends with his new family. The entire band has busted their asses since their return in 2002, so I'd say they VERY much deserve to call it a day, after this tour, if that's what they feel is necessary.

Also, I'm sure the last thing ANYONE of us would want, is for Rush to start going on the road reluctantly, and resorting to becoming a nostalgia act - which the band themselves have already stated many times, that they would never let themselves get to that point - but still...

Fortunately enough for me, I have been privileged to have seen Rush in concert several times, over the last 17 years - Test For Echo being my first concert ever. I'll be seeing them on June 25th in Philly - and will treat is as if it's going to be the last time I will see them live - as it very well COULD be. Even so, on June 25th, I will be :haz: :haz: :haz:

LOL, dude, that's not what I said. You're reachin'. I didn't say Ged was the only reason and I dunno many bands that have been 'forced into retirement by the fans.' Another way of saying that is, 'The fans stopped showing up.' Which clearly is not the case for Rush.

Fact is, the reason Rush is winding down is simply due to age. They're tired, and 40 years in the touring biz takes a toll.

It's just the physical universe, man. :)
