I meant as a hard rock/progressive band (though they weren't called that back then), Rivendell would have been considered a wimpy song. Narps Posted January 4, 2015 Share Posted January 4, 2015 What makes Rush so special band to me is that they can come up with something like Superconductor. It's a weird and different song in many ways... among the only Rush songs that people could (almost) dance to. There's a strong and simple beat. :D And that's EXACTLY why I like it. It's like "Hot Dog" in Zep's ITTOD. That's a friggin' rockabilly song and one hilarious one at that. I'm born around the same time ITTOD was released but I bet the old fart Zep fans HATED it when the album got out. That kind of songs are refreshing.You are correct. Pags Posted January 4, 2015 Share Posted January 4, 2015 I never disliked any of these songs, and never contemplated them as being bad until I discovered internet forums and the trash talk that goes with them. I certainly don't consider these songs as the band's best work, compared to what they're capable of - but my mind rarely compares like that. I just accept the song as the individual contribution that it is, and enjoy it. I haven't been let down by any of them. I voted Superconductor, though.
