Narps Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) Simple. Do you remember the first album you ever bought or at least the first that really had an impact in your life. Maybe its just the album that made you want to go get more of that particular genre and your taste and preferences in music was formed..... Edited August 4, 2014 by Narpski

troutman Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Chicago " Live" - At Carnegie Hall. :codger: :D 1
x1yyz Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I remember some albums that I received as gifts, but I didn't even know of the bands until I saw the records:Kansas - Point of Know ReturnELO - Out of the Blue The first one I bought myself may have been Cheap Trick's Heaven Tonight, although (do I even want to admit this?) I clearly remember buying the Bay City Roller's 45 of Saturday Night. 4
KennyLee Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I sure do. I've had other albums but this was the first "run the hell out the door and don't stop running til it's on the player and the needle drops" record. The kid in your original post is exactly what I looked like... in cartoon form. I'm actually three dimensional. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a5/Rush_Exit_Stage_Left.jpg 3

Lorraine Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) The very first record I ever bought myself was a 45 - Rag Doll by The Four Seasons. The very first album I ever insisted my poor mother buy for me was the soundtrack from the Broadway play Peter Pan. The very first album I purchased for myself was Meet The Beatles. Correction: It wasn't Rag Doll. It was Walk Like A Man. Edited August 4, 2014 by Lorraine 5
bluefox4000 Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Rubber Soul-The beatles. The album started my musical obsession. I knew Rush before the Beatles. but Rubber Soul impacted me in a way i can't describe. I wore that puppy out. and it still has a special place in my collection. When i hear it.....i'm7 again and still Enthralled. Mick 7

I think I actually scratched his Sgt Pepper album from listening to it too much... either that or hitting the record player with a baseball while it was playing. 2
Lorraine Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 The very first album that had an impact, and an incredibly profound impact, on my life was Days of Future Passed. 3

cygnify Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/13/PinkFloydWallCoverOriginalNoText.jpg I had a cool Aunt that got me into good music early. ABitW was all over the radio (early 1980 I believe) and I had an uncle that had Dark Side which I had listened to and really liked all the sound effects (lol). My mom agreed to match my allowance money so I could get the LP. While sonically this was a pretty amazing album, it was so depressing and above my level of comprehension, it amazes me that I stuck with it. I loved Floyd pretty much as my top band (listened to Wish you were here along with Dark Side - and later come to love Animals, Meddle, etc eventually seeing Floyd live in 87 and 94). It wasn't until early 1982 along with MTV that my extreme air drumming skills (later translated to real drumming skills) were recognized and Rush became my everything... 2
Your_Lion Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Electric Ladyland I was five years old and used to mime guitar with a tennis racket along with Hendrix. My parents decided they better buy me a guitar 3
