geddysgal13 Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Is it me, the camera or does Geddy look tired. Maybe he'd been up all night flying home from somewhere. 1
GeddysMullet Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 (edited) I saw this yesterday. I thought it was very sweet! Didn't know until I logged on here today that Alex was also honoured and also gave a speech: http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?/topic/88163-dr-lifeson-speaks/ Edited June 13, 2014 by GeddysMullet 3
Chicken hawk Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 (edited) What an honor for RUSH ! Congratulations. What a loss for the students...they didnt get to see them in person. Edited June 13, 2014 by Chicken hawk
KennyLee Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Very nice. Was Neil made a doctor as well or just Geddy and Alex?
The Analog Cub Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 All three of them were awarded the degrees. I think Neil just declined to give a speech/appear at the ceremony if the weather was good - can't say I'm too surprised.
Lorraine Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Sometimes Neil makes me very mad. Geddy once said that if someone wants to honor you, the least you can do is be gracious about it. 5

What kind of kid never dreamt of meeting his idols???? He should at least try to get over his bizarre fear of people who admire him 1

He should at least try to get over his bizarre fear of people who admire him Normally I would agree with you, but today there are too many unstable people around. Maybe he has already encountered enough of them, which is why he is the way he is. Who knows what they don't tell us? There is a thread in this section that I resurrected a few weeks ago that tells about something that happened at a concert with one crazy woman that got even Alex mad and had to be escorted out of the concert. It's not easy being famous. Although I would sure like be give it a try for awhile. I always wondered what it would feel like to stand up on stage and look out at thousands and thousands of people there just to see you. 1

Yeah that would be cool. :) I can understand if he has a fear of public speaking, but he certainly doesn't have any kind of fear of the camera. He seems to be able to do his videos without any trouble. I'm still amazed that Steven Colbert was able to get all three of them on his show. That's got to be some kind of miracle in itself. 1
Chicken hawk Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 He should have sent a message like his partners did!It shows respect. 2
RushCanuck Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Regarding Neil's apparent lack of response to this honor, is there a chance he's off-line? (maybe he's on vacation on the other side of the world?) Or, doesn't he live in California, making his attendance more of a challenge? For myself, I'm not going to judge Neil regarding his response to this particular honor unless I hear more details. if anyone knows the 411 about Neil's reaction to this honor, please post it.

Anguyen92 Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 It's so weird to see Geddy in a suit. Good speech though.
patjnev Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 (edited) I don't blame Neil when there are a lot of weird peeps out there . Edited June 14, 2014 by patjnev
EagleMoon Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 It's so weird to see Geddy in a suit. Good speech though. I kept thinking that too. So odd to see him wearing a tie. 1
EagleMoon Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 But he looks Damn good in that suit!! I like him better in a t-shirt. 1

gangsterfurious Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 She's a freak and I believe the band has a restraining order against her. http://www.byregion.net/cgibin/users/profiles.pl?username=solaris http://www.illuminati-news.com/articles2/00330.html
gangsterfurious Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Anyway love, I don't know if you can click on those links but the lady really went off the deep end and it seems like most of her attention was on Neil. She made claims that Neil was controlling her mind telepathically and would show up at concerts when she was told not to show up. There was also talk of a gun, it was pretty scary stuff. She's way out there and now it appears she makes money off of her kookiness by offering psychic services.
