From my hike earlier today. I had forgotten how pretty the area is around my parents' house. This is just a few minutes walk from them.

And even tighter. Not sure if I'd wish the shadows on the ground weren't there.

Yeah, I'm a painter not a photographer, but I think they enhance the composition! :)

I agree. Gives it more depth.

I think this might look a bit better if you cropped so like half the steps were visible but keep this square crop. Just an idea :) I really like it how the colour kinda fades down if you get what I mean :) .

We've got a tree like this just in the field behind our house and it's really nice at sunset because of the colours of the moss :)

There is a little story to that picture I thought I would like to tell you.

I was roaming about with a friend on the docks when I suggested we go to the little green lighthouse, to take some photographs towards the city. My camera had run out of battery so my friend let me take this picture on his camera. While he was taking some photos I set up my tripod and worked on my composition in my head. At that time you could see the container terminal on the other side of the yellow lighthouse, with lights, cranes, bells and whistles. So I'm perfectly set.

While my friend is shooting I turn my back to the scene and look towards the city, which is one big construction area at the seaside. Very picturesque. He finishes and I turn around only to see that the terminal is gone. During one minute top the whole terminal had been engulfed in fog. So that is how I got this photo. Soon the whole area would be engulfed in thick fog so you couldn't see the ships come in. But you could hear them. When I heard that first blast of the fog horn close by I nearly crapped myself

I wonder what that picture would have looked like with the container terminal in the background? Hopefully I will find out tonight when the world's largest container ship is docking at the harbor.

Hey, that world's largest container ship was in San Francisco not long ago. It sure made it over there quickly.

New York City today...

And if you go chasing rabbits

And you know you're going to fall

Tell 'em a hookah-smoking caterpillar

Has given you the call

Call Alice

When she was just small

FEED YOUR HEAD

Damn. 2017 models and I need all three. Art for my wall. I will not ride them.

I especially like the orange color with the Houses of the Holy art-it highlights the art somehow and looks great.

Picture from a great road trip this summer, more of which I'll probably adorn this thread with. Utah's Highway 12 is a phenomenal 4-5 hour drive. Modest speed limits through the beautiful stuff, two lanes the whole way, and nothing but quaint towns and no traffic lights.

I especially like the second and third ones- the contrast of the tall light and cranes against the square angles of the shipping containers; and the lighting leading the eye into the distance in the third one . .

I hope you post more photos! This is beautiful and I am quite jealous :D It seems from your link that you were not far from Calf Creek recreation area (or state park, whatever it's called) which was a place that we loved when we lived for a year in Utah.

I like the third one best myself. The composition just seem to work on that one. The second irritates me a little because it seems like the perspective is off, but I chose to let it be.

Hiked the NJ shore today. Spectacular weather and incredible clouds.
