RUSHHEAD666
So gang! Lots of incredible music came out this year and hey this year isn't over yet! Name your ALBUM OF THE YEAR! If you have to wait until December is over then hey, NO RUSH! LOL! On that note I am going with Coheed's "The Afterman." Notables for me are: "Clockwork Angels" Rush"Sounds That Can't Be Made" Marillion"A Different Kind Of Truth" Van Halen
treeduck
I can't say really, I'd have to think... But it's definitely not Marillion! :laughing guy: I think my pick might be the latest Barren Earth album "The Devil's Resolve" :guitar: :haz:
Steevo
Cheers Earl for the namecheck You're too kind. It's good to finally have you back in MOTS after all that Rush touring malarky At least it got the Duck to finally weigh in...so where does The Sword figure then? Gotta love that title track though ay :smoke:

For the first time in our lives we are drifting apart musically! Perhaps I have taken too much time of from this Forum!! You are still so METAL and I seem to be going more commercial emo prog. Am I really getting too old for this shit? I love the new Coheed and Marillion record. I fukking hate Hogarth and pretty much all of his Marillion albums despite "Marbles." I must be losing all of my marbles!! I do enjoy the new DOKKEN. The new TURBONEGRO kicks ass!

I must be losing all of my marbles!! I do enjoy the new DOKKEN. The new TURBONEGRO kicks ass! I didn't buy the new Dokken, I didn't like the sound of Don's vocals, they sound like they've been butchered in the lab with autotune, pitch shift, fart throat warbling and penis spewing! And that guy on guitar is too much of a Lynch clone, it's kind of disturbing. I do have the last album (Lightning Strikes Again and I think it's alright) and I was impressed at first, he brought back the old 80s sound. But he brings all faux Lynch and nothing of himself. Stormtron
Clockwork Angels is my favorite of the year, but if I had to go with something other than Rush, it'd probably be Christian Mistress' Possession. Raw, straight forward, f***ing awesome.....just fell in love with that album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYWqJsAd4SQ

Hatchetaxe&saw
As per the other thread, I'll go with CA. Here's one, I got the new Arbouretum album on free download, as I purchased the vinyl early, it's being released in January. It's brilliant, could be the album of next year. J2112YYZ
Clockwork Angels is my album of the year. My runner up is Dark Roots Of The Earth from Testament. Old school metal album in modern times, the way metal should be done Edited December 8, 2012 by J2112YYZ

H. P. L.
A single album, Earl? That's hard. I could go with the obvious answer (CA), but if there's an album that has made me think and opened new doors of perception, that's this: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FkK-nUUUfi8/T-sahlFgSII/AAAAAAAACQ8/J3doyiamXPo/s320/Songs-Of-Townes-Van-Zandt-Artwork.jpg For a full list, check out http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?/topic/79207-trf-best-of-2012-let-the-listing-begin/
Shredder2
So many good albums this year! Obviously CA is my #1 pick for this year, but if I had to pick one other than Rush, it'd be Asian Kung-Fu Generation's Landmark. 1. Clockwork Angels - Rush2. Landmark - Asian Kung-Fu Generation3. Channel Orange - Frank Ocean4. Uno! - Green Day5. Tre! - Green Day6. Oceania - The Smashing Pumpkins7. Dos! - Green Day
bluefox4000
For me it's Leonard Cohen's Old Idea's. For him to make an album of that Caliber at that age...is astounding. Some others Sunken Condo's by Donald Fagen Uno By Green day. Theater is Evil by Amanda Palmer. Heart Fanatic. Mick

condemned2bfree
For me 'vanitas' by 'anaal nathrak' is one of the many strong contenders. Micks pushed himself on this one. Very powerfulmusically. Probably their best to date. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3lhmCabGYA
