Excellent, excellent movie. Jack is hysterical. But definitely not a pure comedy.

How pure does it have to be? confused13.gif

This particlar thread is about comedies with little or no dramatic elements in them. "Cuckoo" is as much a drama as it is a comedy. But, no harm done. trink39.gif

My favorite "pure comedy" movies include:

Silver Streak

Trading Spaces

Blazing Saddles

My Cousin Vinny

Raising Arizona

No doubt there are more pure comedies I have seen, but these were the ones off the top of my head that literally made me cry laughing.

I cannot believe that Stripes nor Caddyshack haven't been mentioned. What about the all time classic, Animal House??

Yep,mentioned "Caddyshack" earlier in thread. Heres a few more that come to mind '"Out Of Towners" Original with Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis. "What About Bob?" Last funny Bill Murray performance. "Office Space" Mike Judge first real people movie (Looks like you missed alot of work. Wouldn't say I missed it!) And "Best in Show" the weird world and weird people of dog shows, same makers and performers from "SPINAL TAP" Waiting for Guffman and "A Mighty Wind" What makes all of these funny is you know people like this exist!!!

Lots of good ones already mentioned, but I'd add Noises Off (yes, I know it's based on a play), Hitchcock's The Trouble with Harry and, though it may not qualify as pure comedy, the cult movie Harold and Maude despite the Cat Stevens soundtrack.

I know it's been mentioned, but Young Frakenstein is my all time favorite.

Frau Bluecher(sp)

Will You Give Me A Hand With The Bags?

Certain scenes from The Odd Couple are amongst the funniest on film. I got thrown out of a hospital when visiting my father, because the Odd Couple was on TV and the two of us were laughing so hard we got in trouble with the nurses. It's when Oscar and Felix go to a diner and they're seating under an air conditioning vent. Felix is such a pathetic case, he has to move because the he can't take the direct cold air. Listen to what he does to try and clear his ears, and silences the entire restaurant.

Clearing My Ears

Or when Oscar wants Felix to get out.....

Another words, you're throwing me out....

And as far a pure comedies go, a movie from the early 70's is a laugh a minute. What's Up Doc. It's a riot!!

They Never Will

And also, has anyone ever seen The Hollywood Knights?? CLASSIC!!

Like A Glove (Don't listen if easily offended)

YES!!!!!! rofl3.gif I skip over all the Tony Danza going to vietnam sections, but the rest is classic. Isn't it great how no matter how it jumps from one scene to the next, Robert Wuhl is always there? Newbomb Turk rules!
