Gompers
I hear very little VT. I do hear quite a bit of TFE and CP, some S&A, but also much older stuff syth era, rocked up.
Gompers
QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jul 1 2012, 08:55 PM) QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 1 2012, 06:11 PM) hear a little vt but no t4e. whatever blows your skirt up. Which makes me curious how someone that hates VT can totally love CA... Simple, VT lacks decent melody to me. VT has some of the poorest melodies Rush has made along with Geddy choirs and poor production. I do not want to sing along with the majority of it and the music sounds forced. EmotionDetector
QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jul 1 2012, 10:23 PM) I get a kick out of guys throwing shit at trenken.....he makes a lot of valid points and has strong opinions. Some of you take it personally?.....grow up already. I agree with this. I'm admittedly a huge fanboi, but even I don't have issues with people stating negative thoughts or opinions. Who gives a shit if someone doesn't like a song you do? People hate Virtuality. I love it. Same with Neurotica. Who cares? I love CA, but if it's not someone's cup of tea, then so be it. No matter how good an album is...it's possible for someone not to like it.

It definitely sounds like Rush in many parts! Now that you've pointed it out, I can really start to hear the Rush influence in so many of these songs. I didn't expect it to sound much like Rush at first, but wow! They really surprised me! Brilliant

Defnitely. Keyed in on that today. WTW's lyrics also have the most "shoehorned" feeling to me, which echoes the negative side of T4E. (see what I did there?) eshine
QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jul 1 2012, 05:42 PM) I sure hear a lot VT and TFE in CA.....more VT though. Anyone else? Most notables... -Halo Effect sounds very much like it could come straight from TFE -BU2B stylistically would fit right in on VT There are lots of other traces, but to me those are the most obvious.. Clockwork Angels simply sounds like modern era Rush, albiet the best of the latest bunch.
theredtamasrule
Like Ged said on that recent BBC radio interview (to paraphrase); VT was a return and they were feeling their way around, unsure of who they were at that point. S&A was Rush a little more sure of themselves and what they wanted to say. CA is by a self-confident band in full control of their work, perfecting what they meant to acheive the past few albums. My personal 2 cents is that CA takes T4E, VT & S&A blends them up and adds some really inspired playing and replaces the suck with METAL.
SUBDIVISIONS
QUOTE (GoldRush @ Jul 1 2012, 07:55 PM) "Wish Them well" sounds like T4E (Carve away the stone) The beginning of "The Wreckers" reminds me of the beginning of "Everyday Glory" That it is precise, Wish them well verse has the same notes as Carve Away the stone too obvious The other one is Headlong flight it is full of bastille day, Anthem quotes and By tor & snow dog at 4:50 The Wreckers its similar to "How it is" from VT Seven Cities seems to come from the Feedback album as a cover from some other 70s band! A new classic I can play it along with The seeker and fits perfect Caravan its the older sister of Far Cry

Hakky2112
I just hear tons of every album...including MFH, Victor or even Buddy Rich... CA is a completion. RUSH can walk the red or golden carpet from here...IMO. Stoked for front row again...
Presto-digitation
QUOTE (SlyJeff @ Jul 1 2012, 06:45 PM) QUOTE (beherit @ Jul 1 2012, 05:51 PM) I can hear a bit from all their records except the synth era To me The Anarchist sounds a lot like some of their Synth era tunes if you removed the synths. The Anarchist to me could be on Signals, theme aside. It has that Analog Kid bass walk to me.
