The new album is being forged like fire into my brain!

I'm really falling in love with this record!! It's getting better to my ears every day!!

I think "The Wreckers" is one of the greatest Rush songs ever made!

Then I was thinking about how Alex is very influenced by The Byrds while hearing the opening riff to this song.

I think I read in an interview years ago about how he was influenced by The Byrds on the opening riff on "You Bet Your Life."

Well now my ears can hear some Byrds influence yet again on "The Wreckers."

Do you agree or do you simply think that I have my beer ears on?

Just check this out these videos if you have the time.

Shit "The Garden" is on right now. Yet another another GEM!!!!!

The Byrds "Turn, Turn, Turn"

Check out this video that this kid made for a school project. He uses a clock!

I don't hear that Earl...

But the Carnies riff reminds me a little bit of me of the opening riff of the new Stve Vai tune Gravity Storm...sort of anyway... biggrin.gif

Hey Earl, did you know that Geddy & Al switched instruments writing this one? You can thank geddy playing a guitar in Nashville tuning for that sound.

How sick would it be if they switched the instruments on stage?

I'm a huge fan of this one.

I'd definitely say it has one of the best chorus' that they've ever written.

Even before my first listen was complete, and without the lyrics, I found myself singing it back. It has an undeniable hook.

Again, love this one. One of my favourites on CA.

That's incredible bud! I never knew that!!!!

Awesome!

It would be amazing to see them perform this song with Geddy on the guitar and Alex on the bass!!

My gut feeling tells me it might happen! The crowd would go nuts!!!

The crowd would go nuts, but Geddy wouldn't be able to pull off the lead I think or give it the feel that Alex does.

I must say that I am not impressed with the new Rush album. Many of you have called it a "MASTERPIECE." Even the beloved Duck thinks that the new album is METAL.

Man, I raved about how much I loved "Snakes And Arrows" many years ago and I remember that many of you on this forum absolutely hated that album.

Shit, I remember stating that I thought "Snakes And Arrows" was the greatest Rush record since "Grace Under Pressure."

Oh well let the past remain the past. At this very moment it's all about us Rush fans and fanbois jacking off to the new "Cockwork Angels" album.

A complete 180 degrees. I guess the booze wore off!

Hahahahaha! Good post man! I have completely come around!

Like I posted in that My Name Is Mud Thread I never should have written it after only one listening to the new record!

Whether I have beer in my tummy or a Perrier, it just doesn't matter. It's a solid record.

I'm almost in love with it. wub.gif

I finally had a chance to listen to CA many times today while at work and I hear influences all over this album. But not only other bands there are parts of tons of older 2.gif songs littered throughout the whole thing. A riff here, a riff there, not just the obvious bastille day, but little phrases that could have been clipped from one of many older songs.

I really like this album. I said the same thing about S&A but it never really felt right. There was something in every song I didn't care for, but this is a whole different beast.

I just learned his one today on guitar. Fun song. Too bad the solo fades out.

I haven't tried any of the songs from CA yet but I did bumble upon the D-chord based intro to this today. It's a common "trick" with that chord: it's in at least 3 other Rush tunes and several other ones I know of. Not that this is a bad thing - it's a sweet-sounding trio of chords and sounds different in each of the songs. For some reason, the D is the first chord I play when I pick up my guitar.....

Hey, if you get a chance, could you post the tabs for The Wreckers? Thanks! smile.gif
