Thanks for the link! After one listen, I'd give the album either a 7 or a 7.5. It was good but it did seem a little forced at times and it would have been better with Martin Barre. My favorites were Swing It Far and A Change of Horses.

I told her and told her Peter Frampton is coming to town, she shrugged it off. THEN he gets airplay on CBS Sunday morning.."oh we should go see him, he's gonna be right here in Akron! Is THAT what you were telling me all along?"

GRRR

OK so she made up for it by getting us Weird Al tix which is AWESOME..and THEN I mention Jethro Tull's gonna be here at the Akron Civic how do you know she asks. Honey remember? I work for the paper?

And didn't you play flute for the Venice Fl High School Marching Band?

Then she goes all flustered

You should go! yes.gif Although, I'm not sure they'll be able to top Weird Al. tongue.gif (btw... I can totally see you at a Weird Al show biggrin.gif )

I'm only a little bit into TAAB2, but so far I really like it. And, the sound production is better than I was expecting. Not sure what I was expecing, but it sounds good. This will be fun to see live.

I dunno if anyone here's a "The Middle" fan, but we watched a rerun of Frankie (the Mom) getting Bieber tix for Sue(her daughter) and f*cking up the whole online method of getting them 'cuz the littlest son is being coached by Dad for the upcoming spelling bee...you know where they give you a that captcha word...all effed up lettering and YOU try n figger out WTF it is by the time 2 minutes goes by? Frankie DID figure out the SOLD OUT one rofl3.gif

Well that was Diane trying to get the tickets..which eventually she did. The show's 11/4 so we DID have some time to ef things up rofl3.gif

I've listened to it all the way through a few times now. To be perfectly honest, there are a lot of places where I find it completely boring. Ian uses too much of the same cadence in his voice on many songs and it's really tedious to listen to at times. However, I do find the music to be quite good! I still need to put on the DVD and listen to it in 5.1 but overall, it's about what I thought it would be.

With that said, those songs where Ian is singing a different melody are the best of the bunch. Old School Song is probably my favorite. I also wonder what it would have sounded like (instrumentally speaking) with Martin on guitar. The guitar parts sound somewhat thin to me...or it may be that Martin's absence is messing with me.

BTW, who is it that is singing along with him on Swing it Far (the "Overnight he did a runner" and "Independence, far from suburbia..." parts)? That's not him singing.

I haven't really dug through the lyrics in detail yet but some real clunkers stick out, like "serves the bugger flippin' right...flippin' right", "If you don't like it, right up yours"...I could go on. They are a long way from the genius of "Let me sing of the losers who lie in the street as the last bus goes by. The pavements are empty: the gutters run red while the fool toasts his god in the sky."

But like I said, it's about what I expected. It's "geared to the average

rather than the exceptional." Whereas the original was the other way 'round.

I'm not sure I'll be going to one of the shows, since the closest is in Chicago...a 5 hour drive.

I agree with this...sems he is just sing-talks his way though a lot of this.

I do enjoy the music, of course.

Yeah, he's been using that "method" of singing for a while now. The thing is he doesn't use it all the way through. There are some songs where he's actually singing and those are the really good ones. Shunt and Shuffle, for instance, has him using his singing voice more.

I find it hard to fault him for this style, knowing the problems he's had with his voice over the years. However, it does get a bit monotonous in places where he is sing-speaking the same melody repeatedly.

I'd much prefer more instrumental passages and less singing. He's always had the talent to create great musical passages. It's not lost here.

I just find it increasingly amazing and mind blowing that, after all this time, these guys (Tull, Rush et al) STILL manage to get it all together and get it into our heads hearts and souls

Sh|t, my old man at 70? Sat around smoked ate minute steaks, banged his squeeze and rode the bus to AC and back for $10 in quarters! Rock on gentlemen, rock on! 1022.gif 1022.gif 1022.gif 1022.gif 1022.gif

I can't fuckking believe this album. I feel like I am back in 1974 again!

Ian = PURE GENIUS!!!

I'm not even half way through this album and I think it's better than the new Van Halen record for Album Of The Year.

How the hell does Ian do it?

So happy I popped my Tull Cherry last summer at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga California and saw Tull.

Mindblowing!!

This album could be better than the first Brick record!! confused13.gif

I hope Tull comes around to Nor Cal again I will go in a heartbeat!!!!!

Could you imagine if the Tull set list consists of playing both records back to back? I would die!!!

This record reminds me of the song "The Hare Who Lost His Spectacles."

I'm IN LOVE!!!

Listening to the 5.1 now. I have to say, it sounds very good. I expected no less, knowing Steven Wilson mixed it. I love that the lyrics are displayed. Very nicely done!! I may just change my opinion, it sounds THAT good!

Too much flute. 062802puke_prv.gif

that's just silly.

Why yes, the flute did sound quite silly.

So why are complaining at us about your personal dislike of flute? confused13.gif

Sorry for complaining at you. I'll complain at somebody else next time. wink.gif

TRUE!

I gave it a spin this afternoon on the good stereo, it's very good, not as good as the original of course but still!

If the first is a 10/10 this is a 7.5/10. And I love that it sounds like these old prog album of the 70's.

I'm pleased.
