I agree... The first one I heard he was ranting about Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan. It was a novel idea in like '94 but and I didn't find it all that great. ALTHOUGH....I was 5th row on 7/29/04 (THEE 30th anniversary of as we know it) and Alex sang Geddy Happy Birthday which was OK 'cuz it was his birthday but even that rant was corny. During one instrumental on the ASOH DVD, the sound was turned right off and a radiation images flashed on with an apology. I never knew what Alex had said, but to this day, for me, it's a classic. That, and "Still got no guitar..! Still got no guitar..!" Poor guy..! And "That's the laaaaast time I introduce the rest of my backup band!" before describing Neil as Milton Banana (at least that's what I think he said, and Geddy as "The Guy from Ipanema".
