Love the beard on him.....He needs to bring it back!! You and Varian Star will get along nicely Did someone say Beardy Al? Because I am ALWAYS down for some Beardy Al.
  2. Hoo boy... I really enjoy Roll the Bones--both the song and the album. "Cygnus X-1" bores me musically, but not lyrically. All three instrumentals on S&A rank in my top 25 Rush songs. If I never heard "Tom Sawyer" again, I'd be perfectly fine with it. When it comes to the tour skits, I veer between genuine amusement and second-hand embarrassment. Mostly the latter. No matter how old he is, Alex will always look good to me.
  3. About halfway through my fifth listen...wow. Wow. WOW. Bring on June 12th.
  4. Completely in shock right now. The Monkees are one of my favorite groups and my all-time favorite TV show. Davy wasn't my favorite member, but his charm and energy still won me over. So thankful I got to see them live last year...rest in peace, Davy. You've earned it.
  5. I literally gasped aloud with shock when I read this. Andrew was such an important part of the Rush family, and many of my favorite pictures of the band were taken by him. My condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
  6. QUOTE (Janie @ Dec 15 2011, 11:50 PM) QUOTE (Sir Lerxst @ Dec 15 2011, 12:42 PM) No new Alex photos, as he failed to attend the Andy Kim shindig for unknown reasons. Weird. Hope everything is ok. I was looking forward to new pics. Probably just Clockwork Angels business taking precedence. I wouldn't be worried.
  7. QUOTE (Sir Lerxst @ Dec 15 2011, 03:42 PM) No new Alex photos, as he failed to attend the Andy Kim shindig for unknown reasons. His solos must have needed more practice. Oh well, The Orbit Room is throwing parties for Christmas and New Year's--maybe he'll pop in to one of those! And we have CA promo photos to look forward to in the new year...I'm trying to be optimistic! (It's not really working... )
  8. The Andy Kim show is tomorrow night! Anyone else as excited as I am?
  9. QUOTE (Babycat @ Dec 11 2011, 02:28 PM) QUOTE (Jake2112 @ Dec 11 2011, 06:12 PM) QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Dec 10 2011, 01:05 PM) I've wondered if (especially Geddy) has thought about letting his hair grow out, but kept dying it because he didn't want to be in that "in-between" stage (and with the length of his hair, it would be a while). I figure there's going to be a point soon where he'll look more natural letting it grow. Having said that, I still can't get used to Brian May of Queen with snow-white hair now. It still surprises me every time! Now that guy dyes his hair. When I saw Queen in 2006 his hair was brown like it had always been. I must admit I was taken aback by Brian May's greying hair. I think he looks MUCH better now that he's not dying. It gives him a distinguished air.
  10. QUOTE (friendlyfloridian @ Dec 9 2011, 01:06 PM) Umm you girls need to get a life...or get Hey, I can't help it that the guys in Rush are better-looking, more mature, and more intelligent than the lunkheads on my college campus! Anyway. Yes, I've had them. Mostly involving Alex. And that's all I'll say.
  11. QUOTE (Janie @ Dec 3 2011, 03:16 AM) I have to admit, I was bummed when no Orbit Room anniversary pics surfaced. I need some eye candy. Turns out he didn't go--the band made him stay home and practice all his solos! At least we have the Andy Kim show to look forward to, and that's only 11 days away!
  12. QUOTE (tjtull @ Dec 2 2011, 03:12 PM) QUOTE (Tom Sawyer @ Dec 2 2011, 02:50 PM) Or any? Let's face it, most every ban has extra material they did have room to put on an album, maybe they didn't think it fit the rest of the album, maybe it wasn't "good enough" at the time. Maybe it's better than stuff they are writting and performimng these days. It could make them extra bucks if they had songs. Maybe that stuff is better left until they are retired or finished, or whatever. I remember reading something about this a while ago. The answer was that they never really leave anything on the cutting room floor. All the material is used and there's nothing extra recorded for each album. Can someone back me up here? My memory isn't what it once was You're right, I remember reading the same thing. There's probably demos/alternate takes that we haven't heard, but no completely new songs. Alas.
  13. It's a conspiracy, I tell you! A CONSPIRACY!!!!!!

Mine is and will forever be "The Meat Bees." Completely hilarious.
  16. Hey guys, quick request. I know Alex wore a fabulous three-piece suit at some shows during the last tour, and a friend asked to see pictures, but I don't have any! Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.
  17. I had no idea that existed! Thank you so much for the find...but then again, you find so many amazing things.
  18. QUOTE (alexlifeson- @ Sep 1 2011, 05:55 PM) QUOTE (NobodysHeroine @ Sep 1 2011, 02:55 PM) QUOTE (alexlifeson- @ Sep 1 2011, 02:50 PM) QUOTE (NobodysHeroine @ Sep 1 2011, 02:47 PM) QUOTE (alexlifeson- @ Sep 1 2011, 12:43 PM) And another because I would very much like to tear that white suit off and have a look-see what's underneath, damn. http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lqq4jxIo391qgs6x7o1_500.jpg I've always been partial to 70s and 80s Lerxst. By the way, welcome, alexlifeson-! You'll definitely like it here, especially in the New World Women forum. Awh, thank you very much! Isn't this Kahme? IT'S DEVINN. C: This is Kahme! Hi, Devinn!!! I kind of had a feeling that it was you. OMG HI! So nice to see you here, yes. c: I see you have a liking for Lerxst? ;D Can't blame you. That shouldn't even be hot, but like..it is. The magic of Lerxst.
  19. I've always liked it, but for the longest time I didn't LOVE it. I guess I was intimidated by the length or subject matter or something. Luckily, two or three months ago the lightbulb went off and I've adored it ever since!
  20. QUOTE (Derek Haas @ Sep 1 2011, 02:13 PM) Sorry it took so long... I'm still not sure I have permission for this... but here's the link: Don't Look Back. ETA: Not sure how I cut the end of the song off, but it had a little strum out. This sounds awesome! Even if I didn't know it was Alex beforehand, I would've known within the first ten seconds--love that tone!
  21. OMG, Devinn is here now! That means I have to start posting again! (I'm the friend she mentions a few posts back, BTW--we're like Alex's premiere Tumblr fangirls. ) Nice finds!
  22. QUOTE (SavageAmy @ Mar 27 2011, 01:12 PM) QUOTE (21xanadu12 @ Mar 27 2011, 11:05 AM) QUOTE (Force Ten @ Mar 26 2011, 01:02 PM)http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss329/GoodCompany/Rush/80sboys2.jpg Hmm...I'm loving that one. That is my favorite expression of his. If only he were doing that eyebrow thing... Yeah, he looks kinda sly and sexy, doesn't he? ...Oh, sorry, I was too busy looking at the golden god behind Geddy to actually notice him! But you're right, the eyebrow thing is pretty sexy.
  23. Having read this thread, I must conclude that I'm one of the few who actually prefers young Geddy to older Geddy! Not that he isn't looking good these days, but... http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb294/Gavintheguitarist/geddy-lee.jpg There's something about that glorious cloud of hair-which, I'll admit, is why I have major crushes on a lot of 60s/70s guys!
  24. Sgt. Pepper is a great album, no doubt about it, but Revolver and the White Album knock it flat on its ass. And I say this as someone who's loved the Beatles her whole life. I don't see why Daft Punk fans complain about Human After All so much. There are tracks on Homework and the Tron: Legacy soundtrack that are way worse than anything on HAA. Ray Davies is a better songwriter than Pete Townshend. Taking this one step further, the Kinks were a better all-around group than the Who, though I concede the Who had the better singer and bassist. Don't get me wrong, I love the Who, but I connect with the Brothers Davies & Co. more.
