On first viewing I didn't really like the character of Newt. I think they carried the shyness thing too far. He needed to be a little more articulate. I want to agree but I think he was perfect for the role and, like Harry Potter, he's a fairly tame character surrounded by bigger personalities. My favourite movie of last year by far! I think the biggest complaint I have about him is that he mumbles and he puts his head down when he talks, which makes it worse. It was very different that for once the bad guys won. They killed the whole family. And I liked that the leader of the bad guys talked to the camera (to us that is watching). And when the wife killed the other guy with the gun, the leader just took the TV remote and rewinded back the movie, and then she failed taking the gun, that was a bit odd, first I thought it was something wrong with my internet. And then it just ended with them going to the next family to "borrow" some more eggs! Some crazy guys there... I give it a 8 out of 10 points. The original I think was in German. Then the same director a while later made a shot for shot English remake. Both are equal but I just looked it up you saw his remake. I am glad you enjoyed it! It's rarely spoken of nowadays but a while back it was a real favourite.
