Real Genius

Very funny quotable movie!

Like so....

Kent: You guys are just a bunch of degenerates.

Chris: We are?! What about that time I found you naked with that bowl of jell-o?

Kent: You did not!

Chris: This is true.

Kent: I was hot and I was hungry.

Dreams Don't Die, 1982, starring Ike Eisenmann (he played Tony in the original Witch Mountain movies, see photo below). Seventeen-year-old Danny Baker lives in a deadend neighborhood in a shitty NYC borough, the kind of place where kids have no future. By night, Danny is tagging subway cars as the notorious "King 65," a prolific and talented grafitti artist. With encouragement from a sympathetic cop, Danny begins to dream of a better life in Manhattan as a paid commercial artist, drawing and painting within the law. First, though, he has a score to settle with the murderer of his friend and mentor. People are still crying on the Internet for this film's video release; I own a bootleg VHS with low audio volume. You can watch the whole thing on YouTube.

Holy shit, I remember this movie!

Not commenting on any of your choices. However, I did see the movie depicted in your avatar for the first time the other night. What a mind f**k!

Add me to the camp that LOVES "Murder by Death."

The Peters (Sellers and Falk) steal the movie, particularly Sellers.

"Body gone, but pockets still there?"

"Room filled with no people."

"I don't hear nothing; what do you hear?"

"Double negative... and dog"

"Leave out one very important detail: who victim?"

"Is the! Who IS THE victim! Say your damn participles!"

"Someone just put deadly snake in room. Wake me when come near bed."

(Reading note): "I think butler dead. My name is Yetta. I don't work Thursdays."

The Promotion

Picked this up in the $5 bin at Walmart last night. Funny movie. Seen it on tv a few times but never met anyone who has seen it. I love John c. Reilly.

They're vying for a supermarket manager job, right? Yeah, it's a nice little film. Very slow moving, but it has some funny moments.

Yup, thats the one. I love small indie-ish comedies. I also enjoyed John's newer movie, Cyrus.

You've probably already seen it but if you haven't, check out Sellers in The Party. You will laugh your ass off.

Thought of another one: The Seven Faces Of Dr. Lao

A couple of recent movies for the action fan, the first a high action, really fun, over the top (if a bit long) South Korean "western" set in WWII

The Good, the Bad, the Weird

and then a quite stunningly beautiful Chinese film by John Woo Red Cliff

Great adventure, EPIC battles. Seriously, give this a shot. Not to be missed and view it on the largest screen you can find.

I prefer the international version ( I like long uncut films) but the American release theatrical version, which is very good, is available streaming on netflix.
