  2. I think the best pop singer performing today is Sia... also a phenomenal writer. This is the one that opened my ears. It get dusty in my room every time I watch this.
  3. Some good ones mentioned here, Covers should at least bring a new or fresh perspective to a song. Johnny Cash should be getting some special recognition in this thread Best hmm but here are a few of a my favorites focusing on some punks Gloria Patti Smith http://youtu.be/xxygqSTO1lQ Heroes Fripp and Deborah Harry http://youtu.be/ABEqQKlWLC0 Take Me to the River Talking Heads http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anjT71N4PGM Do You Wanna Dance The Ramones http://youtu.be/Y9KfHpm4s4w
  4. Yeah that was fun to watch but I could have done without the fake fills being put in. I bet it sounded really good without that kind of crap.
  5. I am guessing we have seen the last of the Rush tours but maybe not the last of their live performances. I would not be surprised to see non-headlining short appearances with other bands. Certainly we will see more live perfomances from Alex and Geddy. I have had a wish for a long time that someday I would walk into a bar and see a jazz trio with A, N and G
  6. There may be a lot of things to disparage about the RRHOF but this guy is just waving an ignorance flag. He absolutely knows nothing about the history of rock and roll. One example: Tthe Supremes. Well here is a tiny shred of their influence on Rock and Roll. The guitar riff that bridges the verse and chorus of Bowie's "Starman" is taken from "You Keep Me hanging On" . Oh well, I am sure he would say that Motown or Bowie is Rock and Roll. I hate to break it to him but R&R was not invented by Van-Halen.
  7. HAHA I was listening to Kraftwerk I when I viewed this thread. I am not familiar with much of this genre so thanks for the tips as usual. footnote: A bit out of bounds for this thread but Kraftwerk performed their albums at Moma last month over 8 consecutive nights. Check it out on youtube and other places for listening pleasure.

  9. I just want to say that i come to this site and use and abuse it almost every day and yet... I use adblocker. I just want to say that I have whitelisted TRF on adblocker and offer my sincere apologies to the staff for not supporting you in the past. How did I whitelist TRF? ...in Adblock Plus On the bottom left-hand corner of your web browser you should see a small icon that looks like a stop sign with the letters 'ABP' in it. Click this, and then click 'Disable on therushforum.com' and that will whitelist TRF in your adblocker. If you don't see the 'ABP' stop sign, then you probably have that bottom bar hidden. Go to your View menu (at the top) and click Toolbars and make sure 'Add-on Bar' is checked. Then you should see the 'ABP' stop sign in the bottom left-hand corner.

  11. Deep Purple Kraftwerk Joy Division/New Order Eno Devo Oh and i must add King Crimson inclusive of all their works and lineups. No one in here so far has posted anyone I would disagree with and GWAR ROCKS! but if any one posts Boston i will immediately put them in my column as having zero credibility in any musical discussion.

  15. She looks very much like a cousin of mine at that age who would be in her late 60s now. Hope she is not the same person! On topic, probably been mentioned, but any free credit report.com gets an auto channel change.
  16. Excellent shots, that little pocket camera does a nice job.
  17. I did just watch the performance by Pink on youtube. Fantastic. Amazing https://www.youtube....h?v=4FbN4L4SM8E
  18. When I saw the promo for AMA starting out with take on the opening riff of "Should I Stay or Should I Go by the The Clash, I just had to chuckle.
  19. A couple of WWI period films. Paths of Glory -1957: One of the GREAT movies. Directed by Kubrick and the starring role is played by Kirk Douglas. -->"]General Mireau: I can't understand these armchair officers, fellas trying to fight a war from behind a desk, waving papers at the enemy, worrying about whether a mouse is gonna run up their pants leg. -->"]Colonel Dax: I don't know, General. If I had the choice between mice and Mausers, I think I'd take the mice every time. Beneath Hill 60 - 2010 Well worth watching, especially if you are interested in the period. Based on a quite astonishing true story of the Australian Hill 60 Tunnelers. The movie is pretty taut and realistic. trivia- the box made by triffen is the actual box. Directed by Jeremey Sims.
  20. If it it even remotely possible to get the bad taste I get when I say Star Wars, then I am all for it.
  21. Watched "The Neighbors" It is no "Pushing Daisies" but still a fun light comedy.
