StellarJetman
QUOTE (IChoseFreeWill @ Apr 24 2011, 02:40 PM) Which Rush song is the most optimistic? Which one has the most positive, idealistic, hopeful, encouraging lyrics of all? "The Analog Kid", probably.
ioc
The one that's meant the most to me in respect to being positive, idealistic, hopeful, encouraging would be "Mission" Marathon would be a close second. Mission is still my #1 all-time favorite Rush song - for just that reason.
Tommy Sawyer
The last part of Hemispheres (The Sphere) "sensibility, armed with sense and liberty, with heart and mind united in a single, perfect sphere" Or maybe, the music video of The Pass. At the end, the kid decides to not commit suicide
USB Connector
Lyrically, Mission and Marathon. Personally, I find Hand Over Fist, War Paint and Anagram (for Mongo) to be particularly optimistic and encouraging.

Invisible To Telescopic Eye
I've always thought Countdown had a strong flavor of hope and optimism.
Undemanding Contact
For me, Entre Nous does the job; but there are stacks of them in the canon. The Big Wheel, for example, is optimistic, to wit: sometimes the odd number wins. One could argue even that The Pass 'reflects' optimism in that the lyrics assert (towards the end) that there is deep futility in suicide: No hero in your tragedy No daring in your escape No salutes for your surrender Nothing noble in your fate ...thus implying that there is a better way - one can stick it out, come what may. 1 of the 7
Beside those mentioned above, Chain Lightning (on a more person-to-person level), Stick It Out, the chorus and bridge of Everyday Glory, Resist, and One Little Victory.
Alex
Prime Mover.
Jake2112
I would say One Little Victory's pretty optimistic, Chain Lightning and Ghost Of A Chance (in a downer sort of way) come to mind as well

Good, bad, andrush
Bravado is so damn depressing and at the same time extremely uplifting, for me at least. I don't think I've ever heard this song without shedding a tear
