Here are my two buddies playing together last night.  The big Rag Doll is Geddy, and the little Siamese is Sophie.

Aw, Sophie's gotten so big!

Having a rough go of it again with Aspen. I switched her food after her stomach inflammation last spring, and was happy when she started losing weight, because she'd been very overweight. Her fur even looked better, probably because she could groom herself better. Over the last month or so, though, I noticed it had gone too far, and the last few weeks, she hasn't been eating much. Took her to the vet today, and they think she has a bowel obstruction (there's a chance it's a tumor, but they don't think so - I'll find out Monday). If so, it's once again due to inflammatory bowel syndrome. So, $300 later, I'm sent home with two different medicines she's supposed to take, and that's it. Like my boyfried so aptly put it, that ain't gonna happen. I've tried everything I can think of to get her to take it, and I think I got a little in her, but can't be sure she hasn't spit it out. So, she's not likely to get better, and this illness is chronic, so this is going to happen again and again. I have a feeling she has a long, drawn-out decline ahead of her. With that possibly being the case, I don't know if I should ask whether to have her put down when I talk to the vet on Monday? I also can't afford to keep taking her in - I got her when I had a good job, but now, things are so bad, I've given up some of my own medical care and have taken on a second if not third job for the holidays, giving up Christmas with my family, and it's still not enough.

I. Am. At. My. Wit's. End.

Hi everyone!

I was hoping there would be a kitty thread around here somewhere!

This is our cat, Scooter:

http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb414/lyndseyg2112/0d4039d3.jpg

She is about 9. We are not sure exactly how old because she wasn't originally ours. After we first moved on the boat, Gilby and I started talking about getting a dog. Then, one day our neighbour who is a boat engineer asked us if we would be interested in having Scooter. Apparently she had been bullied by the other cat that her previous owners also had and she had taken refuge in a boatyard. Unfortunately the new owners of the yard didn't want her there. Our neighbour who worked there at the time used to feed her and clean out her poop tray. We agreed to take her in and although very timid, she had settled down very well.

I never owned a cat before we got her so I wasn't sure how I'd take to her but, honestly l love her to bits! I even sing songs and change the lyrics to her name! She has a few nicknames: Scoop, Scooter-poop and variations on those which can be fitted into any song. She probably thinks all the songs in the world are about her!

I know how you're feeling. It's been nearly 3 months now since I lost my Kittyguy and I miss him every day still. Our cats leave their pawprints in our hearts forever.

That is so nice but it made me cry. I'm glad I waited till I got home to watch it.
