JohnnyBlaze
Hair. Grunge is such simplistic pretentious hipster bullshit. I like how this sentence vibrates in the mouth and rolls off the tongue when said aloud.

fraroc
Man In A Box or Unskinny Bop? Hmmmmm Unskinny Bop is just fun to listen to. And that's coming from a general non-fan of Poison.

RUSHHEAD666
Man In A Box or Unskinny Bop? Hmmmmm Am I being baited tonight? LOL! I actually have an open mind and love both genres.I lived through both eras and embraced it all! I would take "Man In A Box" over "Unskinny Bop" but yes, Poison is a fun band! People who rip hair metal must not have a sex life!Go wear plaid grunge people and make love to yourself in the Seattle rain! Hair Metal is melodic! Has killer guitar solos! Killer riffs! The lyrics are about fuckking, drinking and having a party! Perhaps America has lost it's way thanks to the death of Hair Metal. Yeah right! Hey! Rip Hair Metal all you want! It's upbeat and a positive art form! I will listen to White Lion until I fuckking die. Vitto Bratta is so underrated. Just like Hair Metal. To each their own! I listen to Cinderella and RATT! You can have Screaming Trees and Tad! Oh wait! I like them too!! I probably kept SUB POP in business when they were a small indie label! I bought it all folks. God I love Mudhoney. I need to listen to some now! Thank you! Then perhaps some DOKKEN next! "Back For The Attack" is one of the greatest guitar driven records in the galaxy! Signed, "Burning Like A Flame!"
Lucas
I'll take Shotgun Messiah's "Don't Care About Nothing" and Loudness' "Like Hell" over any of that droning whiny "Spoon Man In The Box" crap 10 times outta 10 Go out, drive fast, get laid and stop complaining that your Daddy never hugged you

thirteen
Alice in Chains is the only "Grunge" band that I like. And IMO they sound very classic rock/metal in most instances. Hair metal is/was such great fun to see live.

thirteen
My favourite Hair metal songs have aged better than my favourite Alice in Chains songs. There is a cover band called Spandex Nation that plays at Freemont Street in Las Vegas. They play all the classic hair metal songs. A great show with kick ass songs and everyone partying.

Says it all Blaze! Everyone was jumping on the Big Hair scene! So what Rush song out of their entire canon represents hair metal? I don't need to write a stupid thread about this matter in the Rush section. No one will care. Hmmm..... I love how Geddy and Alex had the pretty New Wave Hair and yet Neil cut his short, except for that stupid tacky tail he had. Rush did have a Hair Metal Shite Stage. I would say Grace and Power. I think Neil got rid of that shit RATT tail for "Hold Your Fire" so whatever. It's all about "The Big Money" baby. Why do you think RUSH did that shit "Roll The Bones" rap? Then did they do that shite "STICK IT OUT" grunge garbage track? That's Chris Cornell in the electric chair right? RUSHHEAD666
"BLACK N BLUE" is one of the best hair metal bands in the world! KISS ripped of a song on their third "Nasty Nasty" lp. But hey, the album was produced by Gene Simmons. Oh and then guess what little Rush children? Tommy Thayer was in Black N Blue... But now he's in KISS!! Soon to be replaced by Ace Frehley.... Maybe...

JohnnyBlaze
Alice in Chains is the only "Grunge" band that I like. And IMO they sound very classic rock/metal in most instances. They sound very hard rock/metal because they and Soundgarden were playing like that before grunge was even a genre. They didn't seek out or change to fit into grunge. They both were labeled that by the music biz. Edited February 22, 2017 by JohnnyBlaze
JohnnyBlaze
How is one of the most popular genres ever a hipster genre? Because people who love Grunge like to go on about how much better they are than hair metal fans and try to explain why a simple ass song with four chords is somehow more musically impressive than a kickass guitar solo.I've never heard anyone who loved grunge go off on hair metal in the way you're saying here. I don't love or hate either style and both styles can be pretty boring at times. I'd probably take Alice in Chains and Soundgarden over any two hair metal bands you throw at me though.

Personally, I'll take a simple ass song with four chords over a kickass guitar solo any day.
