I was wondering if 20 shows attended is just the middle of the road among all the RUSH fanatics I've seen on TRF. How many shows have you seen?

Question...how in the world could Matchbox Twenty open for Rush in 1988, when the band didn't form until the mid 1990s?

Edited to add: I've seen Rush 9 times...#10 will be this summer. biggrin.gif

I guess I can't remember who opened for Hold Your Fire 1988 San Diego. I saw Matchbox or Rob Thomas somewhere. I do remember they recorded Mission for the Show of Hands. Maybe someone call tell me who I saw open that night. Damn memory!

For the HYF Raleigh show, it was Tommy Shaw (of Styx).

I have seen Styx a few times but it wasn't Tommy Shaw that night in San Diego. Damn, I can't remember.... I'm am looking for my ticket stub to see if it says. It might have been The Micheal Shcenker Group. I don't know where I came up with Matchbox 20. If anybody knows who opened on Feb. 3, 1988 @ San Diego Sports Arena.....Do tell

Welcome!

I'd have to count how many shows I've seen but I know I added them up around the R30 tour and it was 25. I can't remember if that was before or after the actual R30 shows though plus the 4 shows I saw on the S&A tour including both legs. I guess I'm at around 30 or so but you've seen more actual tours than me which is a bigger deal. The first tour I saw was the Hold Your Fire tour and then starting with the Presto tour I've seen them at least twice on every tour. Tommy Shaw is who I saw on the HYF tour as well. The Power Windows website is great for looking up dates and opening bands (and many other things too).

Anyway, welcome again.

Beware. If you ask about the censored part of La Villa Strangiato on the A Show of Hands video we'll tar and feather you though. laugh.gif

Yeah, I looked it up on the PW site and the opening band isn't listed for that one. There's a picture of the ticket stub though.

It must have been one of these bands:

Opening Bands: MSG, Tommy Shaw, Chalk Circle, The Rainmakers

Welcome! Heading for show #10 myself. (Should be #12, but financial considerations forced me to miss both the VT and R30 tours).

Thanks for the help on figuring out who opened up for Rush 1988 @ San Diego. I just don't remember it being MSG or Shaw. Usually when a archive site doesn't list the opener it is because their either wasn't one or the local venue or promoter provided the band to fill in for the night because of the other warm-up bands scheduling conflicts. I've seen last minute 'fill-ins' before for other probable opening acts. Still........ I want to know, for sure, who opened that night. When did Matchbox Twenty form? Maybe my memory is not as bad as I think it is. I love MSG ( Micheal Schenker Group), I am just not ready to say I saw them that night. Damn memory, damn beer, etc.

WELCOME W-AW trink39.gif 1022.gif cool10.gif

I've now seen 2.gif 40+ I think to be exact 43 I tend to lose track easily because I've seen way too many concerts in my life so far. I've only missed one tour Test For Echo in which was opening night for my softball team and was unable to see them any other time on that tour.

I plan on seeing them 4-5 times on this next tour from VA/PA/FL The last date on the tour in West Palm Beach FL my second home for now.

My first being Grace Under Pressure and i gather that's why Im so attached to that album. Again welcome.

peace

I should be at #14, but overbearing mother wouldn't let me see concerts before I was 16 (So, I missed Moving Pictures, Signals, and G under P), I was in away serving in the Air Force during the HYF tour, and financial constraints caused me to miss T4E (and 2112 in it's entirety). angry.gif

9/18 in Virginia will be number 45.

I was very fortunate to live in metro NY most of my younger life which meant that there were always multiple shows within a pretty easy drive for me. If they were playing at MSG, The Meadowlands, and Nassau Coliseum I would go to all three shows. It was a lot cheaper to go back then-a $20 bill would get you a crappy seat, a 6 pack, and gas for the drive.

Most shows on a single tour-5 for Vapor Trails

Hartford

Camden

Jones Beach

MSG

Mohegan Sun

This tour will bring up the tally to a dozen or so since PoW. When I saw them in the fall of 87, they were with MSG. That was on the east coast though. I can understand why you might not remember if it was them. Totally unmemorable opening act. Sorry, Mike. liked you in the scorps though.
