I can never hear "Bastille Day" correctly again after the threads on "lemony cake."

Nor can I eat lemony cake without making the Rush connection. Not a bad thing, though.

"we've taken care of everything, the words you read the songs you sing, the BITCHES that give pleasure to your eyes!"

Reminds me of the one misquoted lyric I always remember...

The Fountain of Lamneth:

"The sky is BITCHING...violently"

First time my fiancee heard it, she said the same thing. laugh.gif

I never heard the "Lemony cake" thing that way until I heard so many others had.

The funniest one to me is not one I heard but rather one of my friends who is more of a casual Rush fan:

"I will choose a path that's clear"

as

"I will choose a bathysphere"

The other one that cracks me up is from Armor and Sword:

"The battle flags are flown at the feet of a God unknown"

as

"The battle flags are flown at the feet of a garden gnome"

That just kills me.

The "garden gnome" kills me as well! Someone here made an avatar based on that misinterpretation.

That's...just how I hear it.

I know what you mean about lyrics like that, but I always got that one, one reason is I used to sit and read the gatefold cover while I listened...

From Tom Sawyer...

"The SPACY INVADER gets by on you"..

I remember someone back in high school who knew I liked Rush asking me "What's the name of that song they do about Space Invaders?"

Not a misquote of TS but my wife asked the other day, "What is this song about?".

Another famous misheard lyric from "Limelight" (though I never had a problem with this one):

"Living in the Fish Islands

Trapped in the camera eye. . ."
