  2. Yeah, Index was honestly the worst song of the set. It was worse when I saw the new version the second time, and even though worse after I saw it via the stream. He's been doing the Leo/Tony Blair bit every show. I remember the first NYC show he said "Leo Blair, wonderful voice. Tony Blair as Prime Minister....*gives an 'eh' expression*" In retrospect, I would've probably enjoyed the show much more had I sat further back than I did. I felt I could've had a more immersive experience with the video backdrop and all had I sat in the lower balcony or further back. When I saw the Madison show he told us right away that "if you saw us in Chicago already, I will warn you that its the same shit every night. Same songs, same jokes." I really enjoyed the show a lot. Way more than I was expecting since the show I saw on the Grace for Drowning tour didn't do much for me. I don't understand the outright hate about this tour; I was very moved by the show I saw. Easily one of the best concerts I've been to in a couple years. I think you either feel the vibe of this new record or you don't. I very much do. The video that accompanied Routine was absolutely heartwrenching, as was the one for Raven That Refused to Sing. The only things I didn't like were The Watchmaker (I just do not connect with that song at all) and the way they started Index. That was a little weird.
  3. Positive: It was a fantastic show, my favorite setlist of the four Rush shows I've seen in my life. The fact that I got to hear Jacob's Ladder, Natural Science, Hemispheres, Xanadu, and Cygnus X-1 all in one show was incredible. Negative: I'm from the Milwaukee area and I hate going to Chicago for shows. I hate driving there, especially. Rush is one of the few acts that is worth it for me. There was absolutely nobody directing people or cars in the (official United Center) parking lot on the way out. You had to be a jerk and force your way in if you wanted to get anywhere. I tried my best to let some folks in front of me. People were walking right in front of moving cars, it was a bad situation.
  4. QUOTE (Mr. Krinkle @ Mar 16 2011, 11:59 PM) Something tells me that the new Yes album is the last thing on Japan's mind right now.
  5. Devin Townsend just finished mixing "Deconstruction," which is going to be released along with "Ghost" most likely in June. From what I understand, they are both double albums.
  6. QUOTE (HigherWater @ Jan 9 2011, 12:55 PM) It's not like I don't get my money's worth. Jesus, people. We're still getting nearly three hours of live music for our money--We got Moving Pictures in its entirety! I think, "thank you" is more appropriate than all the bitching.
  7. The Camera Eye live? Yeah, don't think I can pass that up.
  8. I think I've seen the Anesthetize DVD about 10 times through now. It just does not get old!
  9. Whoops. About to make a comment already made. Sorry.
  10. I say replace Stick It Out and Faithless. They seemed to mess up the flow of the show during the first set.
  11. If they don't announce a Milwaukee Date for the early summer, I may have to see them in Chicago.
  12. "primarily with Rush performing in markets not played on the previous tour run this summer." Looks like no more Rush for me until 2012. Oh well, I'm glad the European fans are getting their share!
  13. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Nov 15 2010, 08:49 PM) Exactly. I don't see why this idea is so hard to understand or accept. Agreed. Let them do what they want. People should really stop being so needy...except the European fans, you guys deserve some some shows. I'm glad you will be getting to see them in action!
  14. QUOTE (shaun3701 @ Nov 14 2010, 11:33 PM) times are tough... it's pretty shitty to try and sell something like that, but then again if someone's dumb enough to buy it I guess it's their own fault lol For over 80 dollars, too.
  15. It's amazing the lengths some will go to make a boot look legitimate just to make a few bucks.
  16. I'd say he's getting canned. The same problem was happening night after night. I was incredibly frustrated at the Milwaukee show when the Glorious 355 cut out during La Villa. I have always wanted to hear it played with that guitar. The problems seem like they were coming from not the rig, but the guitars themselves.
  17. I must say that he seemed much better this year than than in 2008 on the SnA tour. It seems like he changed the way he does a few things. I think I heard him drop an octave on parts of some songs, which really didn't sound all that bad.
  18. "Scheming demons dressed in TV guides." is actually "Scheming demons dressed in kingly guise." Who knew?
  19. QUOTE (shaun3701 @ Sep 16 2010, 07:48 PM) I hate to think what would happen if something like that occurred during a DVD taping. Thats why they tape multiple nights usually.
  20. He had very similar problems at the Milwaukee show as I recall. The 355 just died before La Villa.
  21. QUOTE (BIAS2112 @ Jul 4 2010, 02:15 AM) I caught all the same mistakes you did. Twas my 14th show and I was kind of disappointed at the musical and technical failures because I never hear more than one or two minor ones. I too like RUSH for their perfection. It's early in the tour and I'm sure they will get it together. Another thing: I started off with earplugs in before they started playing and I had a perfect mix in my ears. Bass was equally prominent with midrange and Highs. I took them out to see what it sounded like and I felt that the whole mix was nothing but mids and unbearable highs (except for the drum solo). Anyone else feel that way? The EQ was a bit weird. Definitely too many searing highs. And you are right about the mids; they were very overpowering. The only instruments that sounded really good were the synths, acoustic guitar, and the drums during the solo. Everything else seemed a bit off. I also noticed Alex's mix level would change in every song. I understand the guitar is supposed to be more prominent in some songs than in others, however when I can't make out his solos, I get agitated. Also I felt bad for Alex because of the technical problems he had all night. That is exactly why I will never use a wireless unit. I can almost guarantee that is what caused the problems. And why of all guitars did the White ES-355 have to cut out on La Villa? On another note, I was really impressed with Geddy's voice this time around. He really surprised me. He still struggled on the really high notes, but he was better than the last time around. The short movies were entertaining as well. I was quickly laughing, as I expected I would be. Overall though, I really enjoyed the show. Actually the problems they had didn't bother me much. I have always liked Rush because the guys were so normal. Having an imperfect night just goes to show that they aren't much different from us. They make mistakes; it happens. PS: Alex's Hughes and Kettner Radios are the greatest thing ever.
  22. QUOTE (OliasOfDelaware @ Apr 13 2010, 01:36 PM) Let's all face up and admit, even though Alex stands in front of an impressive array of stacks, few if any of them are actually being utilized in shows these days! He has in-ears just like everyone else! I think it's funny that he has a bunch of empty (hollowed-out) stacks behind him and funnier that Geddy sort of pokes fun at that with his curious assortment of late. As to my suggestion for this tour? A hodge-podge of clocks, all keeping good time. It seemed to me, last time I saw them in 2008, that the guitar sound was coming from the stacks. All artists nowadays have in-ears so they can hear all the other instruments as well. I suppose I could be dead wrong, but it just didn't sound like the guitar was coming through the PA.
  23. Cinderella Man and Kid Gloves. No contest.
  24. QUOTE (Del_Duio @ Apr 22 2010, 10:50 AM) So what kind of retooling will JL get? I hope they don't take out the synth solo in the middle!! I think they might just shorten it. Same with TCE. I think there are portions of both that could be skipped without too much negative effect. I'm probably wrong, though....
  25. I really dig that setlist, but I think there's going to be much more post-Signals stuff, honestly. But I guess that's why you included the ** list at the end. Stoked about Jacob's Ladder, though!
