  1. In my opinion, Where's My Thing and The Analog Kid were the easy standouts of the first set. They killed live! Which is surprising, considering I'm not the biggest fan of WMT. That said, it kicked ass live! Loved the newer, ballsier sound.
  2. I agree. I listened to the Buffalo show, and Limelight felt very out of place between the two PoW songs. And the performance felt very through the motions to me, too. -Jane Well, i'll speak as someone who was actually at the show.Limelight didn't seem out of place to me and wasn't " throught the motions". +1 - heard peeps rave about the inclusion of Limelight and its placement in the set. Go figure... I'd rather Limelight over The Body Electric any day of the week. Middletown Dreams, now that's a different story! But The Body Electric is probably one of my least favourite songs of their entire catalogue, and I got the "privilege" of hearing it in Toronto. I would much rather have heard Limelight.
  3. Subdivisions The Big Money Force Ten Grand Designs The Enemy Within Digital Man The Analog Kid Bravado Where's My Thing Far Cry Caravan Clockwork Angels The Anarchist Carnies The Wreckers Headlong Flight Halo Effect (maybe replace it with The Trees) Xanadu (abbrev.) La Villa Strangiato Between the Wheels Red Sector A YYZ The Spirit of Radio Tom Sawyer 2112 Now how much better is that setlist? And that's only with a few minor tweaks. This tour and setlist could have been so much better, AND catered to both hardcore and old school fans.
  4. This describes just about everybody that was sitting around me at the Cleveland show or just the audience overall, for the most part. Probably because the setlist was garbage, for the most part. The set list isn't garbage. You're a tool. Yes I would change out some songs, but it's a surprising list altogether. Oh, please. The Body Electric? Territories? The Garden? Manhattan Project? I agree that some songs were great, and I'm all for a non-casual tour for the fans, but those songs? Even if you do not include The Garden due to it being a new song, The Body Electric, Territories, and Manhattan Project are all boring as hell. This is all arguable, but the 80s setlist was generally pretty boring, and the proof was all around you at the show. If they want to play obscure 80s songs, that's fine, but they could have made them FUN songs to listen to. Play Between the Wheels, Digital Man, The Weapon, Kid Gloves, THE ENEMY WITHIN for Christ's sake! They haven't played those songs in forever, and any one of those would certainly be more thrilling than sitting through Territories. What a snooze fest. A great chunk of Clockwork Angels was also a mistake. I'm all for them playing new songs, but maybe they could have spread them out, or displace some of them with some older ones. Take out Seven Cities and put in a shortened Xanadu. Take out The Garden and replace it with Circumstances/La Villa. I don't care how overplayed those songs are, they are certainly more thrilling than The Garden was.

  6. I wonder why it was just Buffalo that got Limelight? The absence of it in Cleveland only proves the one-off time of Limelight in the setlist. I wonder why they're so special? Similarly, during Muse's previous tour, they only played Bliss in Vancouver and no where else. I wonder why certain cities get these special one-off songs?
  7. QUOTE (Phantom @ Oct 15 2012, 06:20 AM) IMO, the setlist kept this from being a great concert... Just too many tunes that aren't among my favorites. Agreed. The first half had a few duds. Not my ideal setlist, but a great show none the less!
  8. Don't complain about seeing B! I'm seeing A, and I'd much rather hear Dreamline than Manhattan Project That said, Bravado is much better than The Pass!
  9. It was Alex who pushed for By-Tor and the Snow Dog for the Vapor Trails Tour, so if he isn't the one behind the lesser-known songs, he at least has a very strong opinion regarding the older songs that can be played.
  10. Do you like it? http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/400x/23383205.jpg
  11. No, but if you're going to quote the song, at least get it right.
  12. It would help if you got the words right. It's, "In this one of many possible worlds," not "world."
  13. You guys should listen to some Sigur Ros or some actual emotional music. You'll probably shrivel up and die from all the water loss if you cry to The Garden.
  14. QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jun 11 2012, 01:55 PM) Musically, it sounds like they had Wish them Well left over from Snakes and Arrows and revisited it. Just has a very SnA sound to it Agreed. Very S&A, which is not necessarily a good thing
  15. QUOTE (Ancient Ways @ Jun 10 2012, 05:12 PM) QUOTE (cygnus_thegodofbalance @ Jun 10 2012, 05:52 PM) And those are Wish Them Well and Carnies. WTW because it's WAY too repetitive, and Carnies because it's just a wall of sound without any cohesion or linear guidance. It's just a mess. AND I think The Garden is vastly overrated on here. All in all though, a great album! Caravan - 8/10 BU2B - 9/10 Clockwork Angels - 9/10 The Anarchist - 9/10 (great opening riff!) Carnies - 6/10 Halo Effect - 7.5/10 Seven Cities of Gold - 7.5/10 The Wreckers - 9/10 Headlong Flight - 8.5/10 BU2B2 - 8/10 Wish Them Well - 7/10 The Garden - 8/10 (great, just overrated) to me, 8 or 9 out of 10 means it should become a perennial song to be played on tour a la TSOR, FW, TS, etc... Are you saying that 5 or 6 songs should be played on most tours from now on? Who said anything about how many they should play on tour? That's irrelevant. But I honestly wouldn't mind if they played all of it on the upcoming tour. I love all the songs that much.

QUOTE (malnar @ Jun 10 2012, 05:13 PM) QUOTE (cygnus_thegodofbalance @ Jun 10 2012, 05:04 PM) QUOTE (Snaked @ Jun 10 2012, 04:59 PM) One point I will make in the CA vs. 2112 debate is this... 2112 dosen't have anything that even remotely resembles The Garden. That being said I'm not ready to say CA is better than 2112.. ask me in a year and I'll let'cha know. But CA doesn't have anything that remotely resembles 2112... Well... except for those parts in the title track where they recycle the riff from Grand Finale. Well, yeah

  18. I love the "iron wheels" chorus, but that's it. I've listened to this song 5 times now, and that's honestly the only part I remember from it. Everything else about it is so unmemorable and incoherent.
  19. QUOTE (Snaked @ Jun 10 2012, 04:56 PM) QUOTE (GeddyLeeFender @ Jun 10 2012, 05:55 PM) Carnies is one of my favorites, im not hearing this "mess" everyone is talking about. I think that it is freaking awesome! Carnies is a great song and Wish Them Well is a favorite of mine. Sorry but I disagree with ya! Hey, all the more to you! Different strokes

  21. Definitely mixed. He looks forward to so many things in life and in his adventures, but when the reality strikes, he is only left with bitter disappointment that none of his optimistic dreams came into being. The Garden, however, is somewhat hopeful, as he states that all we can do is live life to be loved and respected, and to hope. I find that to be the message of the album; life sucks, and all we can do is hope that the next minute brings us more joy than the previous one.
  22. LOVE the lyrics to Clockwork Angels. Very poetic, atmospheric, and lyrical. Some of his best lyrics ever, I would say. That said, the story is rather depressing - a string of blunders and dashing hopes to the chagrin of the protagonist, only for him to realize that life is crappy and full of disappointments. The ending redeems it somewhat, with the message that life is hard, but all we can do is hope from one second to the next. A bittersweet ending, but very nice. Well done!
  23. I'm not good with this illegal downloading stuff. Can someone tell me where to find CA?
