MMCXII
these 4 guys kind of remind me of each other. they're all under-rated and they're not "show off" type players
rushgoober
Dude, you're doing a poll on a Rush website with Alex Lifeson as an option. Good luck with that.

Ultra
The only other name tha seems missing for the list is Pete Townsend, but I'd still go with Gilmour if he was one. Gilmour > Townsend > Lifeson

greg2112
Alex wins this one. Biggest reason is because of his versatility as a player.

GrandDesigner
I'd pick Howe, even though I think Lifeson is definitely among my favorites. Howe is just SOOO versatile, and has created some of the most gut wrenching or spastic guitar parts I've ever heard. Look no further than Turn Of The Century or Gates Of Delirium to hear his genius. A truly brilliant guitarist with the most unique style ever
RUSHHEAD666
I was actually going to pick Alex but I figured that Gilmour came first. Had to go with David.

Ancient Ways
Overall Alex is my fave off this list. Gilmour has a better tone and his solos may be more consistently good compared to Alex. George Harrison is even more low key than Alex or Dave but I like him. Honestly Howe is my least fave on the list.

treeduck
Between these four this is how it is: Alex Lifeson: melodic guitar solos, riffmeister David Gilmour: tone and tasteful choice of notes Steve Howe: technical ability, mastery of syles George Harrison: song-writing and innovation

Tinwoodsman
My Favorite guitarists are (no particular order) : Tony Iommi Alex Lifeson Joe Walsh Terry Kath Alvin Lee (Ten Years After) SRV Ted Nugent So in this poll ... Lifeson rules although I heard Yes four years earlier than Rush. I do like PF, when I really need to release some tension.
